Weekly Message for 10.19.18

Well we made it a full week last week so the 2nd quarter is off and running!

Moore Square hosted two outstanding events this past week. On Wednesday, we hosted the Board Advisory Committee for Dr. Martin’s district. Tremendous information was shared about the upcoming election and the bond that is on the ballot. To learn more about the Capital Improvement Program – 2018 Bond, please go to https://www.wcpss.net/Page/36743. Election Day is November 6th. As a reminder, Moore Square and all WCPSS will operate on a 2-hour delay as many schools serve as polling sites.

All students participated in a Career Day on Friday where they were able to learn about a variety of careers and speak to those in the field. We had over 20 different careers represented! Additionally, students were invited to participate in Mock Interviews to practice soft skills and marketing oneself. The students had a wonderful time and the presenters were amazed by the caliber of questions the students asked.

PTSA Annual Giving Drive: This is a no-fuss fundraiser that will support students and teachers through grants, cultural arts, student recognition, gardens, grounds, etc. If we reach our goal of $12,000, Dr. Jordan, Mr. Dail, Ms. DePinto, Ms. Mondora and Mr. Squires will put on a short concert from the roof at First Friday on November 2nd. Go to https://mooresquare.memberhub.store/ to donate!

First Friday: Moore Square will host our Fall First Friday on Friday, November 2nd, from 4-5:30 pm. The event is a great way to launch your Raleigh First Friday! The afternoon will be full of performance, displays and student work. Also, if the PTSA reaching their annual Giving Goal, the administrative team will be providing a short concert from the roof!

Veteran’s Day: Are you a Veteran or Active Duty member? If so, please consider helping Moore Square celebrate Veteran’s Day by visiting a classroom to share your experiences. This is a great opportunity to help students understand the sacrifice members of the military make as well as the impact on community.
