Weekly Message for 10.12.18

Happy Friday! We hope everyone fared Michael well and we look forward to seeing all the students on Monday.

Fall Pictures:  Fall picture retakes are on October 16th. Any student who was absent on the original picture day, has enrolled since, or who purchased but would like to retake pictures will have their pictures taken. For students who are retaking already purchased pictures, the entire original packet will need to be returned on October 16th. Order forms are available at the front office. If you would like to have your student’s pictures taken on Tuesday, please send in a note or, if you have already purchased pictures, the original packet pictures.

We are looking for a couple parents to help with picture retakes. If you are available from 8:30-10:00, or any part of that time, please email Marla Mondora at

Friday, October 19th is Career Day!  Friday, October 19th is Career Day!  The students will have the opportunity to speak to a variety of community professionals about their jobs and how they got them!  Students are asked to “Dress for Success” - button ups, pants, appropriate length skirts, ties, and clean shoes.  We are asking students to not wear shorts, t-shirts, sweatshirts or jeans.  Students will be working in class on handshakes and eye contact.  They will be given a list of companies that are participating before hand so they can look to see who they would like to talk with.  This is a fun day for all involved as we help our students start thinking about what they want to do in the future!

Do you have access to Home Base? Home Base is a statewide student information system that gives parents and students access to real-time information, including attendance, grades and assignments. With Home Base, powered by PowerSchool's application, everyone stays connected: Students stay on top of assignments, parents can participate in their child's progress, and teachers can instantly share information from their gradebook with parents and students.

If you have questions about accessing or navigating your account, please contact the school. We will have the parent request forms available at the front desk. Additionally, our office staff will walk you through logging in if you need help.

As our 2018-19 recruitment season approaches, we would like to add to our Moore Square Magnet Middle School website a place for prospective families to read about some of the wonderful things our parents and students have to say about our school. If you have a positive testimonial you would like to share, please click the appropriate link below and complete the Google form. (If you have an area of concern, this is not the platform. PLEASE contact us so we can work to address it!)

We would like a brief description--just a few sentences targeting a specific area of which you have been especially pleased. Examples could include a particular department, activity, or event, but you are not limited to these topics! We ask that you do not use specific names of teachers and/or staff in your testimonial.

The number of responses we receive will help determine whether we publish your testimonial on our website, but many positive testimonials will definitely speak volumes to our interested families.

Thank you very much for your positive feedback!
