Weekly Message for 10.18.18

Welcome Back! We hope that everyone had a wonderful break and was able to rest and relax.

As many of you are aware, we have been experiencing difficulties today with our air conditioning. Fortunately, the maintenance team was able to come over to Moore Square right away this morning to begin working to resolve the issue. While some issues were fixed immediately, some larger concerns took longer to resolve. Classes relocated to cooler areas of our building as possible.  Thankfully, our air was restored fully just before noon. We appreciate your patience and understanding and patience of our students and staff as they have dealt with this unexpected issue today. As always, please call or come by if you have any questions. -Dr. Jordan

All applications for reduced meal prices need to be submitted each year. The deadline for Moore Square families is tomorrow (October 9th). Forms are available in the front office.

Friday, October 19th is Career Day!  This is a day of handshakes, eye contact, dressing for success and learning about careers we may have never even heard of!  This is an exciting and fun day for students to start thinking about their future and learn about the vast opportunities that await them!  All students will have the opportunity to talk with community professionals about their occupations.  This is also the official “Dress for Success Day at Moore Square”.  We ask for students to wear button-ups, pants, appropriate length skirts, ties, and clean shoes.   We are asking students to not wear shorts, t-shirts, sweatshirts or jeans.   Students will also can practice their soft skills of talking with adults in “Mock Interviews”.  A list of companies participating will be available closer to time.  Students will be preparing for Career Day in class in the first two weeks back from break to put their best foot forward!  This is a fun opportunity for students to start thinking about what they want to do in the future and talk to adults about ways to get started.  For more information, questions or to participate as a business volunteer, please contact Wendy Gressett

Do you have access to Home Base? Home Base is a statewide student information system that gives parents and students access to real-time information, including attendance, grades and assignments. With Home Base, powered by PowerSchool's application, everyone stays connected: Students stay on top of assignments, parents can participate in their child's progress, and teachers can instantly share information from their gradebook with parents and students.

If you have questions about accessing or navigating your account, please contact the school. We will have the parent request forms available at the front desk. Additionally, our office staff will walk you through logging in if you need help.

As our 2018-19 recruitment season approaches, we would like to add to our Moore Square Magnet Middle School website a place for prospective families to read about some of the wonderful things our parents and students have to say about our school. If you have a positive testimonial you would like to share, please click the appropriate link below and complete the Google form. (If you have an area of concern, this is not the platform. PLEASE contact us so we can work to address it!)

We would like a brief description--just a few sentences targeting a specific area of which you have been especially pleased. Examples could include a particular department, activity, or event, but you are not limited to these topics! We ask that you do not use specific names of teachers and/or staff in your testimonial.

The number of responses we receive will help determine whether we publish your testimonial on our website, but many positive testimonials will definitely speak volumes to our interested families.

Thank you very much for your positive feedback!
