The Parkside Semi-Monthly 3/24/19

Greetings Parkside Families!  This is your proud principal, Teresa Caswell, writing with an invitation, a few updates, reminders, and upcoming events.  The excitement is increasing as we draw near to the 2019-20 school year; I have enjoyed meeting many of you and your students and am so thrilled to be a Sandpiper!

LAST CALL: If you have not yet, Please fill out this track preference form –I and the other nearby year round schools are meeting tomorrow (March 25th) to ensure equity within the reassignment process after which I will begin the track placement process. Final track assignments will be communicated by mail (postal service) April 18th. Thank you!

PTA interest session and Board Elections:  Please join me Thursday, April 4th, 6:30pm at Brier Creek Elementary School (my temporary home) in the cafeteria; The Wake PTA Council to discuss the Parkside PTA Charter, the purpose of a PTA and hold elections for the necessary PTA Board members (President, Vice President (one or more), Secretary, and Treasurer).  These individuals will them be provided support and training to complete the necessary components to begin and meet before school begins July 1st! Many of you completed the PTA interest survey at one of the parent meetings – that link is again here:  Current Carpenter PTA President Mark Dixon may contact you to connect about the April 4th meeting as well.  I cannot wait to collaborate with the PTA and any/all Parkside volunteers – thank you in advance for your partnership and support of all things Sandpipers!!

Walk Zone – My meeting with the Morrisville Police Chief went wonderfully!  We have a recommendation for three crossing guards to ensure a safe walk zone from every angle! Wake County transportation is reviewing the distance and pathways for students to get from school to home to ensure the safest, timely routes.  I hope to have a finalized, safe, walk zone determined in April.  Stay tuned!
