SRMHS "Teacher in the Spotlight"
Mr. John Hensley is this month's featured SRMHS “Teacher in the Spotlight” as he has embodied the essence of quality teaching, a passion for life-long learning, and service to the Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School community for over 15 years.
Mr. John Hensley is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Teacher Education and Learning Science at North Carolina State University with a concentration on Social Studies Education. His research interests include civic engagement, political efficacy, and the development of an emancipatory civics curriculum for high school students. In 2020-21, John was a Teacher of the Year semifinalist for the Wake County Public School system.
He is being highlighted as he has recently co-written a composition on “ The C3 Framework and the Long History of Inquiry in Social Studies Education”. Click here to read the article.
