Opportunities in Health Sciences

Are you interested in pursuing a career in Health Science? Would you like to learn more about careers that may not be as familiar to you? If you’ve answered “yes” to any of these questions, the 2023 WCPSS CTE Health Science Symposium is an event you don’t want to miss! The 2023 WCPSS CTE Health Science Symposium will be held on Tuesday, October 3rd at Wake Technical Community College's (WTCC) Perry Health Sciences Campus from 8:30 am-12:30 pm. Any KHS students wishing to attend must register in person with the Career Development Coordinator (CDC) or the Career Academy Coordinator (CAC) downstairs in Office #613. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A KHS TEACHER WORKDAY AND STUDENTS WILL NEED TO PROVIDE THEIR OWN TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM WTCC Perry Health Sciences Campus from 8:30 am-12:30 pm! Please note that if a student is interested in a health science field career many of them require prerequisite classes that (should be taken in senior year or during the summer) before being accepted in WTCC degree fall program. Many students may have to wait or sit out a semester while trying to obtain these prerequisites for entry. Examples.(****CNA license****, ☐ BIO 163 – Anatomy & Physiology or BIO 168 & BIO 169 (within 5 years of 1st SON class) ☐ PHY 110 & PHY 110A – Conceptual Physics & Lab or college level physics with lab ☐ ENG 111 – Writing and Inquiry ☐ MAT 143, MAT 152 or MAT 171 or equivalent math class (within 10 years of 1st SON class) ☐ ENG 112 OR COM 110 OR COM 120 OR COM 231.
