EWHS Weekly Message – Week of September 9, 2019


Title 1 Family & Community Engagement Center | East Wake HS is proud to announce this year we have a Title 1 Parent and Family Engagement Center. Next week, your child will bring home a PowerPoint handout explaining Title I and a Home - School Compact. The Home -School Compact will explain the responsibilities of the staff, students, and parents. We would like for you to sign the Home-School Compact and return it by your child to their first-period teacher.  We will also have a link on the EWHS Homepage once the information is sent home if you would like to download, print, sign and return it. 2019-2020 EWHS Homecoming Royal Court Application | Any student that is interested in being on the 2019-2020 EWHS Homecoming Royal Court should complete and submit the application by 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11 to the main office.  The application can be found here.


Hurricane Dorian Make-up Days | WCPSS has designed November 1 and December 20 as make-up days.  These days will be regular school days for students.


PSAT Registration | The PSAT will be administered on Wednesday, October 16. WCPSS pays for 11th graders with a weighted GPA of 4.3125 and above. Those that meet this criterion should sign up in Student Services. All other 11th graders interested in taking the PSAT must register and pay $17 no later than Friday, September 13, 2019. Service Academy Day | Service Academy Day will be on September 21, 2019, at the North Carolina National Guard Joint Force Headquarters in Raleigh. This event will equip students, their families, and educators with essential information about the United States Service Academies, their admission standards, and the nomination process.

Attendees will have an opportunity to meet with representatives from each service academy (U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and U.S. Coast Guard Academy) as well as the North Carolina National Guard, ROTC, and my staff to ask questions about the nomination process and application requirements.

Service Academy Day is a valuable experience that will benefit your students as they prepare for their futures. Anyone who is interested in the opportunities available through our U.S. Service Academies, National Guard, and ROTC to attend.

School Improvement | Any parents interested in serving as parent representatives for the school improvement team should contact Maria Rodriguez (


Bell Schedule | The school will operate the following bell schedule on Fridays: September 13 – C Week (Wednesday Schedule), September 20 – D Week (Thursday Schedule).


Morning Carpool | All carpool students should enter the North entrance driveway.  At no time should students be dropped off on Rolesville Road or in the Student/Staff parking lot.  The Student/Staff parking lot is marked enter only in the mornings.


Athletics | Please come out and support our athletic teams.  Additional details about these events can be found on our school calendar.
