EWHS Weekly Message – Week of September 2, 2019


No School - Monday | Monday, September 2 is Labor Day.  WCPSS will be closed.


Tardies | Beginning Tuesday, September 3, any student that arrives late to class or school will be marked tardy.  Students will begin each quarter with zero tardies in each class.  To enter class, students will get a tardy pass from one of the five tardy stations during the first 10 minutes of class.  Tardy consequences will be issued immediately. The appropriate consequences are:

  • 1sttardy – warning
  • 2ndtardy – warning & parent contact
  • 3rdtardy – lunch detention
  • 4thtardy – lunch detention
  • 5th tardy – afterschool detention
  • 6th tardy – afterschool detention
  • 7th tardy – administrative intervention

Bell Schedule | The school will operate the following bell schedule on Fridays: September 6 – B Week (Tuesday Schedule), September 13 – C Week (Wednesday Schedule), September 20 – D Week (Thursday Schedule).


Cafeteria Guidelines | While eating breakfast or lunch, students must stay in the cafeteria and remain seated.  No food should be in any academic areas.  Restaurants are not allowed to deliver food to the school. If parents bring outside food for students, the student will be provided a designated area to consume the food items not in the cafeteria to be within the guidelines of the Federal School Lunch Program.


Morning Carpool | All carpool students should enter the North entrance driveway.  At no time should students be dropped off on Rolesville Road or in the Student/Staff parking lot.  The Student/Staff parking lot is clearly marked enter only in the mornings.


Office 365 Online and Office 365 ProPlus |New this year, all WCPSS students can download the cloud-based versions of the Microsoft Office Suite of tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint at no cost. Complete details and download link are available here:


Track Your Child’s School Bus | The Here Comes the Bus app is now in its third year. The app translates GPS data into an easy-to-use customizable map that works on a computer, tablet or smartphone. It allows parents to see where the bus is and how close it is to your stop. More information:


Parents Contact Information |Make sure the school has your current cell phone, home phone, and email address in our database. You can contact your school’s data manager to update your information. Text messages will only be sent to people who opt-in. You can opt-in by texting YES to the shortcode 67587 or replying with a YES to the opt-in text message we will send to your phone. You can choose which phone numbers receive phone calls or text messages. If you'd like to customize the type of communications you'd like to receive on your phone or email, visit and create an account. You also can download the app by SchoolMessenger from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.  


School Meal Prices Changes |The cost of meeting federal school lunch requirements means an increase in prices for the 2019-20 school year. There are no changes to breakfast prices. School lunch prices have increased to $3.00 at the middle and high schools and $2.75 at the elementary schools. This is a 20 cents increase. Breakfast prices are not increasing. Full-paid breakfast will remain $1.25 at elementary schools and $1.50 in middle and high schools.


Parents can go to to apply for free or reduced-price meals online any time of day or night.  The online application is available in a variety of languages. Parents also can set up a no-cost online account for their student to view purchases, receive low-balance alerts, and make secure deposits, by visiting


Graduation – Class of 2020 | We are proud to announce that the EWHS Class of 2020 will graduate on June 10 at 2 pm at the Reynolds Coliseum (N.C. State University).  The required graduation practice (if participating in the commencement ceremony) will be on June 8 from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm at the Reynolds Coliseum (N.C. State University). 


East Wake Athletic Club Passes | The East Wake Athletic Club provides financial support for East Wake High athletics while working to build school spirit and increase participation in all school sports. The East Wake Athletic Club generates funds through club membership and athletic passes.  Athletic passes can be purchased at any athletic event or at the school Monday – Friday from 8 am to 2:30 pm.  The athletic pass will get you into any home game for free ($7 per person per game) for the entire school year.  Various athletic pass packets can be purchased with a student only pass is $50 for all sports seasons or $25 for one season. The application to purchase an athletic pass can be found here:
