SGA Hosted Movie/Spirit Day | The SGA will host a movie/spirit day on Thursday, November 29 at 3 p.m. in the Media Center. More information about this event will be shared during the daily announcements.
School Improvement Plan | The purpose of school improvement is to improve achievement and outcomes for every student by working to eliminate the ability to predict achievement based on socioeconomic status, race, and ethnicity. We do this by collaboratively and continuously analyzing data and making decisions considering the unique needs of the learning community and the district's strategic plan. To view our school’s plan, please click here. The login information is located on the right side of the screen.
Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) | The Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) will be providing leadership development training for 10-grade students at N.C. State University this summer. If you are interested, please contact Student Services for additional information about serving as our school’s representative.
PTSA Meeting | The PTSA will host its monthly meeting on Wednesday, November 28 at 6 p.m. in the Media Center.
Summer Training in Academic Research (STAR) Program | The Summer Training in Academic Research (STAR) Program provides a high-quality research experience for undergraduate students, high school students, and middle and high school teachers during the summer academic break.
The eight-week program held June 17 - Aug 8, 2019, will give participants who are interested in science and medicine real hands-on experience in research methodology and writing. Participants are placed in teams and matched with Duke faculty mentors to work on an original, hypothesis-driven project, originating as a one-page summary and culminating in a complete research paper. A goal of the program is to have every participant qualify for co-authorship on a peer-reviewed manuscript related to their team’s project.
The STAR Program is held at the Duke Clinical Research Institute in Durham, N.C., which has organized educational and support programs for junior faculty, fellows, residents, and medical students as well as high school and college students. Participants receive a stipend to attend, which makes the program an option even for students who planned to work over the summer break.
Applications for summer 2019 will be accepted from Nov. 19, 2018 through Jan. 11, 2019. Check out the program website for more information: https://dcri.org/education/dukes-star-program/
