EWHS Social Media Threat - Update

East Wake Families, this is Principal Stacey Alston with an update regarding this morning’s incident.

Again, all students and staff are safe, and we are now in a CODE GREEN, meaning we have lifted the code yellow community and code red lockdowns.

It is important to note, however, that all AFTER-SCHOOL activities have been canceled for today, due to a second, thorough sweep of the campus, to be conducted after the last bell of the regular school day.

After a thorough investigation, the Wake County Sheriff’s Department has determined that there is no credible threat to our campus. The threat had been issued via social media, and law enforcement officials have determined our campus to be safe for normal operations.

We went into a code red lockdown between 10:15 a.m. and 11:10 a.m. after we received information about a supposed imminent threat that was proven to be false. In a code red lockdown, the entire building is locked down. No one is allowed to enter or exit the building until an all-clear announcement is received.

Again, we are now in CODE GREEN, which means we have clearance to operate a normal school day.

We have additional law enforcement and security on campus. They will remain with us for the rest of the day, and we will have increased security for the rest of this week.

Thank you to our students, staff, WCPSS security team and law enforcement officials for maintaining safety and order during this time.

Thank you for your patience and support.

Stacey Alston, Principal
