Capping Policy Updates

Rising kindergarten, sixth, or ninth grade students who have proof of residency within the attendance area for the capped school on or before the capped date established by the Board, and who register in the capped school by March 1st are eligible to attend the capped school, unless a feeder pattern cap is established by the Board.

  1. Previously any student K-12 was able to attend the capped school if they were living in the base attendance area before the capped date and presented for enrollment by April 1st.
  2. Now only grades K, 6, and 9th are able to attend the capped school if they were living in the base attendance area before the capped date and the family must present for enrollment by March 1st. Any other grade will be placed at the bottom of the waitlist.

Students who establish their legal domicile at a home located in the attendance area of a capped school as part of a blended family are exempt from the enrollment cap if at least one other student in the same blended family is domiciled in the same home and enrolled in the same school.

  1. Previously this section of the capping policy stated that siblings of blended families who have proof of residency within the attendance area for the capped school on or before the date established by the Board are to attend the capped school.
  2. Now the student is only able to attend if another student within the blended family is attending the capped school.
