May 24, 2023 - Important information for Alston Ridge Middle School families

Update May 24, 1:30 p.m.

All students are safe. Law enforcement has advised us that our building is clear to enter. Law enforcement does not have any reason to believe that this was a credible threat and is continuing to investigate. Students and teachers are returning to the building now.

We plan to return to a normal day of teaching and learning. We will dismiss at 3 p.m. as usual.

We are returning to our regular student check-out process. If you still wish to check out your student, please come to the front office.

We continue to thank WCPSS Security, law enforcement and our students and teachers for their quick and calm response to the situation today. Again, thank you for your continued patience and support of our school.

Update May 24, 12:12 p.m.

All students remain safe.

Our students and staff remain outside the building in their fire drill locations while WCPSS Security and law enforcement continue to search in an effort to clear the building.

Please note that access to campus is limited. Parents who wish to pick up their students should take Fussell Avenue and follow carpool procedures. In addition, there will check-in sites set up to expedite the process. Please bring your identification with you. We ask that families remain patient as we work to make sure this process runs as smoothly and efficiently as possible.

We will continue to keep you updated on the situation as we learn more.

Alston Ridge Middle School families,

First, please know that all students are safe.

We have discovered that someone has posted a bomb threat to our school in a Google document. Out of an abundance of caution, we are evacuating the building and moving to our fire drill locations while law enforcement and security officials investigate the threat and determine that the building is safe.

These steps are taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of our students and faculty. Please do not come to campus. The roads around the campus will be closed. We will share additional instructions for picking up your students as soon as possible.

We appreciate the quick response of our staff, WCPSS Security and law enforcement.

We will update send you an email and update our website as we know more.
