Parent Update, 9/7/2022 - Moment of Silence

Apex Friendship High Families,

Because it is always my goal to keep you informed, I want to proactively let you know about an event that will be happening later this week.  As directed by the Board of Education, schools across WCPSS annually observe a moment of silence in memory of the events of September 11.  With this date falling on a weekend for this school year, we will observe this moment of silence on Friday, September 9 during the morning announcements.

The purpose of this email is to proactively let you know that we will be observing this moment of silence.  While possible that none of our students were yet born in 2001 when these events happened, I respect that some of our student may have a strong emotional connection due to the impact on their family.  Also, I anticipate that some of our students know less about the events of September 11 which may prompt questions.  My hope is that this notice gives you the opportunity as parents / guardians to determine for yourself if your student needs (or not) a heads up prior to the announcement of a moment of silence.

With apologies for a mid-week update, I value our parents being informed and having proactive options as opposed to only being able to respond afterwards.  If you have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Enjoy a great week, Pats!
