1.  Message from Senior Class President
Good morning senior parents and students of Apex Friendship High! My name is Mandy Williams, your senior class president calling on July 22nd to remind you of a few things we’d like for all of our seniors and senior parents to know.

First, I would like to update you on a slight time change for our senior social.  It will still be held on Friday, August 26th in the cafeteria, but it is now from 12 to 2pm. As you know our senior social marks our first official gathering of our last year together all while enjoying the free food, door prizes, and games- come pick up your senior shirt! We will also share important dates that we already know of for the year, discuss parking spot decorating the Sunday before school begins, and we will discuss the first day of school senior parade. 

For more event information all throughout the year, be sure to follow several social media accounts throughout the year. Our student Council Twitter is @pats_stuco, the official student council instagram is @afhs.stuco, and our class of 2023 senior insta account is @apexfriendshipseniors. 2.  PowerSchool Parent Portal
Families received an update from WCPSS last week indicating that student testing results were available via the PowerSchool Parent Portal.  AFHS will open the PowerSchool Parent Portal early next week when our data manager returns.  You should be able to access these reports by Tuesday, July 26 at the latest.

 

3.  Student Schedules
The summer team is working diligently to build student schedules that reflect student course selections in the spring.  While schedules will be visible soon when the parent portal opens, it is important to know that these are not finalized schedules.  We will continue to update and balance schedules until the first day of school.

On August 8, AFHS will share with families a process for requesting schedule corrections and/or allowable changes.  We are sharing schedules and the schedule change process earlier than we typically do so that we can make necessary corrections prior to the first day of school to the degree feasible. 

Please note that schedule updates will only be made for the following reasons:

  • Course was previously taken and passed 
  • Increase or decrease in rigor (where available seats permit the change)
  • Student did not choose the elective as a primary or alternate course selection.
  • Hole in schedule
  • Student does not meet the prerequisites for the course.

 

With an estimated 2,800 students, most class sessions are full and changes will be very limited.  Requests to change courses that were requested as primary or alternate course selections that do not meet the criteria above will be denied.

 

More information will be shared on August 8.  While general questions are welcome, schedule change requests will not be accepted until August 8.

4.  Counselor & Administrator Caseloads

Each student’s counselor and administrator will be key points of contact for supporting success in the upcoming school year.  Students can find their counselor and administrator for this year using this link.  Please feel free to reach out if you have questions, but note that counselors will not return to AFHS until August 17.

 

5.  Senior Parking Lottery

Seniors are reminded of the deadline of August 9 to enter the senior parking lottery.  Please keep in mind that seniors must also pay their senior activity fee online in order to receive a parking space.  More information
