Weekly Update - June 22, 2018

Good Afternoon Families,

We’ve had a great week at “the Lake.”  Thank you so much for all you have done to welcome me to West Lake. Without a doubt, we have the most amazing children and supportive parents in the world! Thank you for allowing us to partner you in educating your child!

My passion for education and supporting all students has been shaped over the past 17 years as a West Lake Elementary Student Teacher, elementary school teacher, STEM specialist, Math Coach, and assistant principal with the Wake County Public School System. I was a NC Teaching Fellow, received a bachelor’s degree from Meredith College, and a Master of Executive Leadership from Gardner-Webb University.  I am honored to have the opportunity to return to WLE to lead and to partner with you to ensure your child’s success.

Along with the teachers and staff, I will work to maintain the legacy of success established by WLE by building strong relationships with parents, students, and community partners. A well-rounded education means outstanding, rigorous instruction from top-notch educators, as well as other opportunities that allow students to develop character, cultivate their unique interests, and become future-ready leaders.

I believe that my background as a teacher and ongoing role as a parent assists me in understanding and meeting the needs of both teachers and parents, ultimately allowing me to serve the students and children of our community. As a parent of two girls ages 8 and 2, I recognize the importance of a strong home-school connection. Parents and staff who collaboratively work together each day for the students is one of the qualities that attracted me to West Lake Elementary. Your PTA graciously puts the needs of our students and teachers first.

I will be working closely with the WLE team to guarantee that all of our students are intellectually challenged and have a strong social-emotional support system. I am confident, that together, we can make West Lake Elementary an even better place for our students to learn and grow. Thank you for the opportunity to serve this incredible community.

“Go West Lake Wallabies!”
