Good morning Sycamore Creek Families! Thank you to all of our Track 1 families who joined us for Literacy Lunch last week! We had 150 families attend and participate in literacy games.
Super Crocs Day for Track 4
Just a reminder that this Friday, May 2nd is Super Crocs Day for Track 4! Track 4 Class Rotation Schedule

Spring Silent Auction
All Silent Auction items are due this Wednesday, April 30th. The PTA is looking for anyone willing to donate products or services to be auctioned off at the Sycamore Creek Silent Auction that will run from May 8th to May 15th. EOG Proctors
We are looking for volunteer proctors for the EOG. Family members from any grade level are welcome to help. You must be approved as a WCPSS volunteer. Tickets for School Musical
Tickets for the SCES production of “Frozen, Jr.” are now on sale! Purchase yours today at the link below. The shows will be at the Pine Hollow auditorium on May 8th and 9th at 6:30pm. Be sure to save your email receipt as proof of purchase!
Volunteers to Clean up After Musical
Volunteers are needed to help clean up at Pine Hollow after the musical! Sign up here to come help at 4:30 PM on Monday, May 12th. We will be resetting the stage and cleaning up SCES props and sets to bring back to school.
Sycamore Creek Beautification Project
Help us spruce up Sycamore Creek ES school grounds! PTA needs your help with a BIG job at SCES this spring! We need about 24 volunteers to get this done in about 3 hours. This event is part of the larger Beautification Committee efforts to help maintain campus grounds, including the turf, pedestrian sidewalks adjacent to SCES, and other needs as they arise. As normal, we are going to be tackling trash pick up, weed pulling, tree/brush trimming. Bring your gloves, rakes, blowers, clippers, please!
However, we are also going to be painting the Little Free Library, tilling the soil and planting dozens of Mondo plants along the turf line to help prevent erosion and weed growth into the turf, and power raking the turf! Additional training can be provided for anyone wanting to learn playground turf maintenance (regular volunteers needed).
The event will start at 9:30 AM on Saturday, May 31st in front of the SCES main entrance. Please bring work gloves and a can do attitude! Trash grabbers, trash bags, and safety vests will be provided. We will also break by 12pm at the latest. Please contact Nick, PTA Beautification Chair, at nick.dico@gmail.com with any questions.

Staff Celebration
Thank you all for helping to celebrate our amazing front office and clerical staff this month for Data Manager Appreciation Day and Administrative Professional Week! Mrs Robinson, Mrs Stempien, Mrs. Goodwin, and Mrs Sebastianelli are all so AMAZING! We appreciate all they do every day from welcoming visitors and guests, answering phone calls, managing deliveries, making sure our children get a snack when needed, comforting children when not feeling well, managing school records, assisting our staff and families in every possible way and so much more. Their everyday work is very much appreciated!

Raleigh Parks and Rec
Raleigh Parks and Rec provides before and after school care at Sycamore Creek.
Registration for the 2025-2026 school year is online via RecLink.
YMCA
The YMCA offers before and after school care at A.E. Finley YMCA. Transportation is provided in the afternoons from Sycamore Creek to their campus. Registration for the 2025-2026 school year is at https://www.ymcatriangle.org/schools/sycamore-creek-elementary

Reminder to Pay for Yearbooks
If you would like to purchase your child’s yearbook, please complete the order sheet and send in $17 or purchase online at www.strawbridge.net. The online order code is YB31812. If you do not want to purchase the yearbook, please return the yearbook to your child’s teacher this week.
Backpack Buddies Donations Needed
The Backpack Buddies pantry is currently low on canned vegetables (corn, sweet peas, green beans.) If anyone is able to donate these items, they would be greatly appreciated! Please make sure to check expiration dates before donating, as we are unable to accept expired items.

Important Information from the PTA for the 2025-2025 School Year
PTA is beginning their search for the 2025-2026 PTA Board of Directors and all Committee Chairs. There are many openings available for the next school year, so if you are interested in volunteering please click this link to see a description of all open positions. The PTA Nominating Committee will reach out to you with more information. Experience is not required, but only a willingness to share your time and talents with Sycamore Creek. These roles are vital to keeping our PTA running and continued planning of all the events you and your children love. Without a full PTA Board and committees these events will not take place. We urge all parents who have the ability to please take a moment and see if you can help out in any of these positions. Thank you.
Volunteer Registration
For new volunteer registrations, click the link to start your volunteer registration: https://myvolunteer.com/wcpss/volunteer/login. On the MyVolunteer site, you will find disclosure and authorization forms, the WCPSS Volunteer Agreement, as well as a summary of rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. You must review these documents and provide the requested information. Make sure you include your name and contact information when you begin the registration process. If you leave the CRC background site before completing your contact information, you will have to begin the process again. You must include your social security number to register to volunteer. If you do not have a social security number, please contact volunteers@wcpss.net or call 919-694-8233. You will be notified by the MyVolunteer system if you are approved to volunteer. If you have any issues during the volunteer registration process, contact the MyVolunteer customer support team at 877-272-0266 or customercare@mycrc.com.
