Good morning Sycamore Creek Families!  Track 2 is returning this Wednesday!

 

Global Family Festival

On April 25, 2023 from 5:30-7:30 PM Sycamore Creek Elementary is hosting our Global Family Festival to celebrate its wonderfully diverse population of students. This year's theme is "We are the Light of the World". Because the event is all about celebrating the diversity of our students, we would love Sycamore Creek families to share about their own cultures and heritage by presenting about their cultural traditions. Each family presenting will have table space to present cultural artifacts, demonstrate arts and crafts, offer language lessons, etc.  If you would like to participate, please sign up at this link and we will contact you with more information. Please sign up by March 17, 2023.  As a reminder, the following are prohibited; incense, candles, hot plates, homemade food or beverages.  Any food being served must be store bought, wrapped, with an ingredient list. 

 

Sycamore Creek Crocs are Spreading the Word!

Every year we take time at Sycamore Creek to participate in the "Spread the Word >> Inclusion" campaign and pledge to be more inclusive. This is an important focus for Crocs Unified and Special Olympics.  Individuals with intellectual disabilities, a group made up of over 200 million people, representing every country, belief system, sexual orientation, gender expression, race, and ethnicity, continue to be excluded and isolated from their peers in schools, workplaces, and communities around the world. Join our school community in our commitment to include!  

 

Student Led Conferences

We can’t wait to see our students grow their own leadership skills at their upcoming Student Led Conference!  Your teacher will be sending you a sign up form to schedule your spring Student Led Conference.

Open PTA Board Positions

The PTA is looking for passionate and caring Croc parents to give back to SCES through volunteering for open Board Member positions and Committee Chair/Co-Chair positions in the new school year!   We would love your help to keep Sycamore Creek Elementary one of the best schools in the county, supporting our students, teachers, and families to achieve amazing heights! Sycamore Creek Campus Spring Beautification

We need you and community volunteers for a Spring Time Spruce Up! Lunch will be provided!

 

SCES PTA is looking for volunteers, parents, and students to help us clean up the outside of Sycamore Creek ES! We will be preening trees and clearing brush and picking up litter along Leesville Rd and school grounds.

 

This event is part of the larger Beautification Committee efforts to help maintain campus grounds, including the turf, pedestrian sidewalks adjacent to SCES, and other needs as they arise. We are also going to be tackling a huge pile of mulch - spreading it all over school grounds so we need help! If you have wheelbarrows, rakes, and shovels, we need you to come please! 

 

The event will start at 10am on Saturday March 25th in front of SCES main entrance. Please bring work gloves, rakes, and a can do attitude! Trash grabbers, trash bags, and safety vests will be provided. We will also break at 12pm for lunch provided by the PTA (pizza anyone!?). We anticipate this to be roughly 3 to 4 hours worth of volunteering, so please plan accordingly with your time!

Track Change Requests

The Track Change Request window for the 2023-2024 school year closes this Friday, March 10, 2023.  Please know that we can not guarantee any track changes as they are dependent on space availability on each track and grade level.  Families will receive a decision notification by the end of April.  Track Change Request Form

 

New Volunteer Registration Guidelines

Volunteer Registration is now permitted off site!  The modified WCPSS process allows for all volunteers to sign up from any location, instead of being required to sign up at a school or WCPSS facility.   Please visit www.wcpss.net, click on community, volunteer, new volunteer register here. The time of the volunteer process is taking 2 weeks, this includes from the time of submission of volunteer google form and the required criminal background check.

Please note that if you don't complete both the volunteer google form and the criminal background check your application will not be complete.  Once you complete your google volunteer application you will receive an email to complete your background search, scroll to the bottom of the email click on blue link to complete background check.  Once you complete your background check you will receive a copy of your background check report, it doesn't mean that you are approved to volunteer. Sycamore Creek will receive New updated approved volunteers on Mondays, please reach out to school to see if you are approved to volunteer.

Spring Session for Sycamore Creek’s TGA Golf/Tennis
