M. Brunson's Principal Updates on January 17, 2022

 

Good afternoon Sycamore Creek Families!  We are looking forward to having our Track 4 students return this Thursday!

 

Stay Home when sick, not feeling well, or exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19

Students and staff should stay home if they are sick, not feeling well, or exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 and should consider getting tested for COVID-19. Review when to return to school or work after an illness.   Also be sure to let us know when your child tests positive so this can be reported to the WCPSS Covid Metrics. 

 

Students Not Returning for 2023-2024

As we continue to work on Track 2 placements for next year and Track Change Requests, it is helpful to know what grades or tracks may have additional spots.  If you know that your child will not be attending Sycamore Creek next school year, please email Mrs. Goodwin (mgoodwin1@wcpss.net) as soon as possible.

 

Track Change Request

The track change request window will open at the end of February.  Mrs. Brunson will send a Track Change Request form in the Principal Updates once this window opens. 

 

Book Fair

It's Book Fair time!  Sycamore Creek’s Book Fair will be from February 8th-17th.  This year the book fair will include two Family Nights in conjunction with the school’s Literacy Night.  The Book Fair Family Night for Tracks 2 & 4 will be February 13th and the Book Fair Family Night for Tracks 1 & 3 will be February 15th from 5-8pm. Information has already or will be coming home from your teachers in the students' Friday folders as well as through emails from your room-parents with additional details about the Book Fair.  

 

The PTA cannot run the book fair without your help!   Please see this signup genius link to sign up for times to volunteer at this year's Book Fair.  Volunteer positions needed include helping set up/take down, book fair helpers, cashiers, as well as book fair managers if you've worked with the book fair before. They will need help both during the school days, and the two parent nights. The PTA appreciates all of the help every year and all of the hard work the families put in to make this such a fun time.   

 

TGA Golf and Tennis at Sycamore Creek

TGA Golf & Tennis are back at Sycamore Creek!  Although fun comes first in every TGA class, their curriculum also focuses on improving motor skills and physical fitness as well as instilling self-confidence through professional golf & tennis instruction.

 

Students will learn the fundamentals, etiquette, and rules of the game in the comfortable environment of our school campus with a low 10:1 student to professional instructor ratio. They provide all the equipment and training materials, so children of all skill levels have the chance to come out and play with TGA!  Lessons begin on January 23rd.  Tennis will be on Mondays from 3:10-4:10 PM and Golf will be on Wednesdays from 3:10-4:10 PM.  To sign up follow this link.

Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Katie Liberti back to Sycamore Creek!  She will be our PE teacher for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year!
