Good morning Sycamore Creek Families!  

 

School Closed Next Monday 

Just a reminder that next Monday, January 16th, is a Holiday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr.  There will be no school next Monday.

Lunch Changes

No lunch changes this week. 

 

Track 2 Collapse for 2023-2024

WCPSS Student Assignment has decided to collapse Track 2 at Sycamore Creek Elementary and Pine Hollow Middle School for the 2023-2024 school year.  This means that all students on Track 2 will be assigned a new track for the next school year.  All of our Track 2 families will receive an email in the next two weeks sharing more details and information about next steps.  We will make sure that all siblings are assigned the same track. Our goal is to finalize the 2023-2024 track assignments for our Track 2 families by the end of February. 

 

TGA Golf and Tennis at Sycamore Creek

TGA Golf & Tennis are back at Sycamore Creek!  Although fun comes first in every TGA class, their curriculum also focuses on improving motor skills and physical fitness as well as instilling self-confidence through professional golf & tennis instruction.

 

Students will learn the fundamentals, etiquette, and rules of the game in the comfortable environment of our school campus with a low 10:1 student to professional instructor ratio. They provide all the equipment and training materials, so children of all skill levels have the chance to come out and play with TGA!  Tennis will be on Mondays from 3:10-4:10 PM and Golf will be on Wednesdays from 3:10-4:10 PM.  To sign up follow this link. 

 

EOG Testing Dates

The EOG Testing Dates have been set. Please make sure you have protected these days on your calendars.

 

Track 1

  • May 22 - Reading EOG

  • May 23 - Math EOG

  • May 24 - Science EOG

  • May 25-26 Make-ups

 

Tracks 2, 3, and 4

  • June 16 - Science EOG

  • June 20 - Reading EOG

  • June 21- Math EOG

  • June 22-23 Make-ups

 

 

Pine Hollow School Tours 

If you have a rising middle schooler and are attending Pine Hollow Middle School for the 23-24 school year, you can sign up here for an  upcoming tour at PHMS.

 

Literacy Night and Book Fair

Our Literacy Night Family Engagement Event to coincide with the Book Fair at Sycamore Creek.  Our goal is that families will actively partner with us to focus on student growth in Literacy. You will receive specific data from your child’s teacher on how your child is performing in literacy, and you will walk away with specific strategies to use at home to help your child improve in target areas.   

 

Dates:

Monday, February 13 - Tracks 2 and 4

Wednesday, February 15, Track 1 and 3

 

Schedule:

  • Family Book Fair will be open from 5:00-8:00 PM.

  • Literacy Night in the classroom will be 5:30-6:15 PM and 6:30-7:15 PM (to allow parents with multiple children to attend two grade levels)

  • Science of Reading Presentations will be provided throughout the night in the gym led by our Literacy Coach and Instructional Facilitator.  This will be a perfect time to find out how we teach reading now and what the foundations of LETRS training that all teachers across our district have been learning. 

 

Global Family Festival

Our much anticipated Global Family Festival is back! This is a special Sycamore Creek event where your family has the opportunity to share more about your culture and traditions. Mark your calendars now for April 25th!  More information to come.
