Volunteers Needed for Club Photos

The PTA yearbook committee needs a couple of volunteers to help with club photos for Tracks 1 and 3 on January 13th and Tracks 2 and 4 on February 6th. Please see this link to sign up if you are able to assist. Thank you in advance for your help!

Girls on the Run Spring Season

Sycamore Creek is excited to bring back another season of Girl's On The Run! The spring season starts on 2/28 and will end with an end of season 5K on May 20th.  Practices are held at Sycamore Creek on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30- 4:45. 

 

Early Bird Registration runs through January 8th. General Registration will continue from 1/9-3/6.  Registration is a first come, first serve basis. Spots on the team will fill as you register your daughter. If you are interested in having your daughter participate in the program you can register her through the GOTR website which can be found here: https://www.gotrtriangle.org/3rd-5th-grade-program-details

 

We understand that Springtime can be a very busy time for our runners. Before registering, please be sure that your runner is able to commit to coming to practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays when she is tracked in.  Our spots are very limited this season. Please also have a discussion with your daughter about your child being a participant in this program. Your child does not need to be a runner but we do ask that she be excited about learning more about how to be a better advocate for herself and for her community while also learning about how to take care of herself both physically and mentally.

Literacy Night and Book Fair

Mark your calendars now!  We are planning a special Literacy Night Family Engagement Event to coincide with the Book Fair at Sycamore Creek.  Our goal is that families will actively partner with us to focus on student growth in Literacy. You will receive specific data from your child’s teacher on how your child is performing in literacy, and you will walk away with specific strategies to use at home to help your child improve in target areas.   

 

Dates:

Monday, February 13 - Tracks 2 and 4

Wednesday, February 15, Track 1 and 3

 

Schedule:

• Family Book Fair will be open from 5:00-8:00 PM.

• Literacy Night in the classroom will be 5:30-6:15 PM and 6:30-7:15 PM (to allow parents with multiple children to attend two grade levels)

• Science of Reading Presentations will be provided throughout the night in the gym led by our Literacy Coach and Instructional Facilitator.  This will be a perfect time to find out how we teach reading now and what the foundations of LETRS training that all teachers across our district have been learning.
