M. Brunson's Principal Updates on December 19, 2022

 

Good morning Sycamore Creek Families!  The holidays are fast approaching!  We wish you a wonderful holiday break and hope that your family will stay healthy, safe, and enjoy rest and special memories with family and friends!

 

Early Release

Early Release Day is this Wednesday, December 21st at 1 PM.  This will be our last day before the holiday break.

 

Holiday Break

Our holiday break is December 22- January 2, 2023. Tracks 1, 2, and 3 will return to school on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.

 

Winter School Spirit Days

  • December 19 -  Light up the Season (wear sparkly, glowing accessories)

  • December 20 -  Dress Like a Snowman

  • December 21 - Holly Jolly Day (wear ugly Sweaters, red/green

 

Lost and Found Update

Please be sure to have your child check the lost and found for missing items tomorrow. The PTA will be clearing the racks and donating unclaimed items by the end of the school day on the 21st.

Volunteers Needed for Club Photos

The PTA yearbook committee needs a couple of volunteers to help with club photos for Tracks 1 and 3 on January 13th and Tracks 2 and 4 on February 6th. Please see this link to sign up if you are able to assist. Thank you in advance for your help!

Special Thanks 

Special Thanks to all the individuals and families who took time on a Saturday this month to participate in the PTA Campus Beautification Service Project to keep our school campus clean and beautiful.  We are so grateful for your time and service!

 

Literacy Night and Book Fair

Mark your calendars now!  We are planning a special Literacy Night Family Engagement Event to coincide with the Book Fair at Sycamore Creek.  Our goal is that families will actively partner with us to focus on student growth in literacy. You will receive specific data from your child’s teacher on how your child is performing in literacy, and you will walk away with specific strategies to use at home to help your child improve in target areas.   

 

Dates:

Monday, February 13 - Tracks 2 and 4

Wednesday, February 15, Track 1 and 3

 

Schedule:

  • Family Book Fair will be open from 5:00-8:00 PM.

  • Literacy Night in the classroom will be 5:30-6:15 PM and 6:30-7:15 PM (to allow parents with multiple children to attend two grade levels)

  • Science of Reading Presentations will be provided throughout the night in the gym led by our Literacy Coach and Instructional Facilitator.  This will be a perfect time to find out how we teach reading now and what the foundations of LETRS training that all teachers across our district have been learning.
