Good morning Sycamore Creek Families!  

 

Countdown to the Holidays

We have 7 more days until the holiday break!  Early Release Day is Wednesday, December 21st at 1 PM.  Our holiday break is December 22- January 2, 2023. Tracks 1, 2, and 3 return to school on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.

 

Winter School Spirit Days

We have four planned special Winter Spirit Days planned for our last three days before the holiday.

  • December 16 (THIS FRIDAY) - Dress Like a PE Teacher Day in Honor of Mr. Miller’s Retirement

  • December 19 -  Light up the Season (wear sparkly, glowing accessories)

  • December 20 -  Dress Like a Snowman

  • December 21 - Holly Jolly Day (wear ugly Sweaters, red/green

 

School Assignment for 2023-2024 School Year

WCPSS School Assignments for every student were sent home on Thursday, December 1st.  Track 2 slips were sent home last week. It was on a yellow full piece of paper.  Be sure to check your child’s folders and bookbag if you did not see it.  If you did not receive this yellow paper,  it means you have a parent portal account and you should check your child’s school assignment directly.   If you have been assigned a school that is not your choice, the WCPSS Transfer period will open on February 24th. Student Assignment makes these decisions on an individual basis and according to whether or not we will still have an enrollment cap for the new school year.   If you have any questions, please contact our data manager, Mrs. Goodwin, at mgoodwin1@wcpss.net or 919-841-4333.    

 

Please note that the window to request a Sycamore Creek Track Change will begin at the end of February through March 13th.  A link to this form will be sent in the Monday Principal Updates at that time.  

 

Family Spirit Night

The next Sycamore Creek Family Spirit Night is tomorrow, December 13th at Leesville Tap Room.  We hope to see you there.

 

Lunch Changes

Thursday - Chicken Sandwich instead of chicken bites

 

Sycamore Creek PTA Clothing Drive

Please support the PTA clothing drive to benefit Note in the Pocket through December 16th. The mission of Note in the Pocket is to provide quality clothing to homeless and impoverished children and families with dignity and love. We will be collecting NEW socks, underwear and long sleeve t-shirts in all sizes from child to adult. Thank you for helping us show the holiday giving spirit SCES is known for. 

 

Croc Shop Update

Beginning in January, the Croc Shop will only be open on Tuesday mornings and will serve all K-5 on the same day. 

 

Donations for Makerspace Cart

We are in need of donations for our Makerspace Cart. If you are able to help, please check your grade level below and send in donations with your child. Supplies do not have to be brand new. Email aestrela@wcpss.net with questions.

 

  • Kindergarten- Cotton balls, Q-tips, string, yarn

  • 1st- Styrofoam balls/ shapes, tissue paper

  • 2nd- Play- Doh, modeling clay, clothespins

  • 3rd- Pom-poms, feathers, googly eyes 

  • 4th- Popsicles sticks, craft sticks, pipe cleaners, straws

  • 5th- Tiny toy figures & stickers (people, plants, animals), pieces of fabric/ felt

  • ALL- Cardboard toilet paper & paper towel rolls
