M. Brunson's Principal Updates on December 5, 2022
Good afternoon Sycamore Creek Families! Today has been such an amazing day to kick off the week. We had an incredible Number Drummers Cultural Arts program provided by the PTA! Mr. Hudson and I were finally taped to the wall to celebrate meeting the Croc Mile Goal. Plus, it was a track out day for Track 1! We look forward to seeing our Track 2 students back tomorrow.
Countdown to the Holidays
We have 13 more days!
Student Spotlights
Congratulations to all of our 4th and 5th grade Chorus students! They performed beautifully at the Holiday Chorus Performance last week. It was so great to have so many parents and staff here for the event and PTA meeting. Special thanks to Ms. Yardley and Mrs. Chitty for leading the Chorus students.
Congratulations to our Girls on the Run team who participated in the 5K Reindeer Romp at Koko Booth Amphitheater on Saturday morning! They did such an amazing job and the support of the running buddies and parents was incredible. Special thanks to our PTA for providing a new Sycamore Creek tent to stand out at this community event. Also, a shout out to our Girls on the Run coaches - Mrs. Gruenewald, Mrs. Roman, and Mrs. Lawson!
A special shout out to our new Student Ambassadors for hosting the Open House for Prospective Families and for select Chorus students who sang the Sycamore Creek song for this event! I was so proud to hear the students welcoming prospective families and sharing why they loved Sycamore Creek. Special thanks to Mrs. Fox for sponsoring this student club.
Our amazing newspaper club has been working so hard all quarter to bring you the first edition of the Quarterly Croc for 22-23! Check it out and share with your children: https://sites.google.com/wcpss.net/thedailycroc/home-december. Special thanks to Mrs. Boyer and Ms. Hains for sponsoring this student club.

Sycamore Creek Beautification Day is this Saturday
SCES PTA is looking for volunteers, parents, and students to help us clean up the outside of Sycamore Creek ES! We will be preening trees and clearing brush and picking up litter along Leesville Rd and school grounds. This event is part of the larger Beautification Committee efforts to help maintain campus grounds, including the turf, pedestrian sidewalks adjacent to SCES, and other needs as they arise.
The event will start at 10am on Saturday December 10th in the SCES bus loop. Please bring work gloves, rakes, and a can-do attitude! Trash grabbers, trash bags, and safety vests will be provided. Please SIGN UP otherwise you may miss out on important volunteer day information (inclement weather, illness, etc) https://forms.gle/dSKGuBqKjSobbcoK9
Sycamore Creek Staff Retirement
Congratulations to Mr. Miller, our PE teacher, who will be retiring at the end of December. We are so happy for him but will also miss him so much! Mr. Miller does so much for our students and our school community. Please be sure to send your love and shoutouts to him for his many years of dedication and service, especially here at Sycamore Creek Elementary. His last day will be Wednesday, December 21st.
Special Thanks to our PTA
Special Thanks to our PTA for the delicious Staff Holiday Luncheon! What a wonderful time for us to be together and kick off the holiday season. We are so appreciative of all of the ways our PTA is showing love and appreciation to the Sycamore Creek staff!
