Croc Mile Celebrations

Our Croc Mile fundraiser has concluded and we did it!!  Our goal was $35K and we raised $41,060!!  We also raised an additional $2520 from our Super Runners!  But do you want to know the best part? Because this fundraiser is 100% run by our PTA and incredible volunteers- 100% of the money (minus any credit card fees) stays right here at Sycamore Creek!  This puts us in a wonderful position to support our students and teachers and sponsor many new initiatives that come our way! Way to go CROCS!!!

 

A very special thank you again to all the volunteers that helped with various tasks before, during and after Croc Mile.  This includes:  Doug B, Lisa A, Terry B, Meghan B, Gary B, Trina B, Kristen C, Erika D, Kristen D, Nick D, Amber E, Erin F, Cara H, Amy H, Allyson J, Ariel K, Jennifer L, Megan L, Andrea M, Janelle O, Catherine P, Stephanie R, Devin S, Chrissie S, Katrina V, Kelly V, Amanda V and Daniel & Nikki W.  Huge thanks to Kelli K. and Jasmine L. for coordinating and leading the Croc Mile. 

 

For meeting our goal of $35K and stretch goal of $40K we will be having a few school wide rewards.  This includes a special Flip the Teacher Day!.Mrs. Brunson and Mr. Hudson will be dressing up as Elmo and Grouch and will be taped to a wall!!

 

Congratulations to our TOP 10 Students for raising the most money-  Elijah, Austin, Gavin, Brady, Otis, Remy, Eliana, Josh, Caledan and Logan.  These students won Fit Bits, spirit wear from our Croc Shop and will be recognized on Good Morning Sycamore!

 

Congratulations to our TOP fundraising class in the whole school  Ms. Jennette's Kindergarteners.  They raised a whopping $2830.  They along with the other top class per grade level will be rewarded with a pizza party!  Top 1st Grade- Longley, Top 2nd Grade- Wagner, Top 3rd Grade- Kodweis, Top 4th Grade- Yahn and Top 5th Grade- Tomaszewski.  The top fundraising student in each class will also be rewarded with a special keepsake.  This keepsake will be delivered to your teacher some time this week.  

 

Students earned raffle tickets based on money raised as well as if they chose to be a super runner.  Raffle prize winners were drawn on Friday October 28th by Mrs. Brunson.  Congratulations to: Carynn C, Charlie K, Rafaella L, Charlie H, Ryan M, Otis W, Oscar T, Riley M, Elijah Y, Austin S, Brady K, Lateef O, Maebh R, Carter R, Robert M, Wesley H, Lila C, Jackson L, Chase A, Welles K, and Sebastian B.  Prizes will be sent home this week.

 

Finally, take a look at the number of classes that hit each milestone.  All prizes were distributed during the course of the fundraiser. $200 Milestone- 40 classes, $400 Popsicle Party Reward- 36 classes, $600 Milestone- 32 classes, $800 Pringles Party Reward- 24 classes, $1000 Milestone- 16 classes, $1200 Donut Party Reward- 12 classes, $1500 Homework Pass Reward- 5 classes.

Sycamore Creek Spring Musical

Our Spring Musical is back and we are so excited!  Ms. Yardley has selected The Lion King as our musical for the 2022-2023 school year.  Any interested 4th and 5th graders can audition for our musical. For more details and information, including audition dates, click here.

 

Picture Make-Up Dates

Picture retakes for 2 and 4 will take place on Thursday, November 10th. Track 1 and 3 will have their retake on Monday, November 28th. Any families unhappy with a student’s portrait are welcome to retake their picture. Original photos do need to be returned.

 

For those students that were absent on the original picture day, they will have their photograph taken regardless if they are ordering pictures or not as these photographs are used for the yearbook.

 

Did You Know? 

In order to be counted present, students must be at school for half a day or 3 hours and 15 minutes.  This means if you are checking out early and want your child to be counted present, check out would have to be after 11:45 AM.

 

Open Enrollment for Rising Kindergartners for 2023-2024

Registration for next school year is now open!  If you have a rising kindergartener for the next school year, please go ahead and start that registration process NOW.  We want to be sure we are protecting your spot and your track.  Enrollment for next year is on the Wake County website under Student Enrollment. 

 

Thanksgiving Service Project

It is that time of year that we think about gathering with family and friends for special holiday traditions and meals.   Again this year, we would like Sycamore Creek Families to consider supporting one another by signing up to donate Thanksgiving meal items for other Sycamore Families.  If you are able to support a family, please use the link below to sign up to either provide Thanksgiving meal side items, or a precooked Turkey breast.  Please don't sign up for both in order to give more families an opportunity to participate.  Thanks for giving!  Sign up here: THANKS FOR GIVING!!

 

 

Field Trip Chaperone Reminders

If you are planning on chaperoning a field trip this winter or next spring with your child’s class, please come in to register as a volunteer now.  It is taking a couple of months for parents to be approved due to such high volumes in the district.

We had no positive COVID cases reported last week at Sycamore Creek.  Please make sure you notify us of any positive COVID cases.
