M. Brunson's Principal Updates on February 19, 2019

Success of our Global Family Festival

Our 1st ever Global Family Festival:  Love in any Language was a huge success thanks to all of you!  We were hoping for 100-200, expecting 50, and were delightfully surprised to have about 1,000 attend including 450 children!  We were completely overwhelmed in the best kind of way!   Please check out all the pictures on our Twitter feed or on our webpage!

Special Thanks to our families who shared more about their countries and cultures.  We learned so much from all of you:  Damrek Family, Bennett Family, Keeton Family, Distefano Family, Badgley Family, Cruz Family, Haile Family, Costello Family, Ryan Family, Zhao Famliy, Teague Family, Mehta Family, Louca Family, Zhang Family, El Hicheri, Sabeh Family, Brunk Family, Marangon Family, Dadson Family, Delerosa Family, Post Family, Wiggs Family

We learned so much and now that we now how many to expect we are working now to figure out logistics to address traffic flow, space for performances, and space between tables.  What an awesome problem to have!  Thanks for being patient with us and we can't wait for next year!

Sycamore Creek Career Day 2019

  • Tracks 2 and 4 - Friday, March 29 (8:30am - 10:30am)
  • Tracks 1 and 3 - Wednesday, April 17 (8:30am - 10:30am)

Career day is an exciting time when Sycamore Creek students can learn about the wide range of careers in our community.  Career day is for 4th and 5th grades only and consists of three 30 minute presentations and Q&A. Students will be in groups that will rotate from room to room, so chaperones are needed.  If you desire to present or would like to be a chaperone, please sign up with the link below.

You do not have to have a child in 4th or 5th grade to participate, so please consider being a presenter or chaperone.

Culture Club

Correction of Culture Club Dates: Please replace 2/10/19 with 2/20/19 and 3/10/19 with 3/20/19.

Substitutes Wanted

WCPSS is looking for classroom parent volunteers, retirees and others with an interest in working with students to register as substitutes with our district. Potential substitutes should complete the employment application available at If the applicant is approved for employment as a substitute teacher, they will attend a New Substitute Teacher Orientation and can begin searching for jobs in Absence Management. Substitute teaching is a great opportunity for someone looking to set his or her own schedule and work with children.
