4/1 Principal Message
Mt. Vernon Parents/Guardians,
We are in the final push towards Spring Break. It has been a pretty long stretch since our last sustained break in December. As a whole, the students of Mt. Vernon have continued to demonstrate the character traits that we would have hoped they would have. Over the next three weeks, continue to have conversations with your children around good choices and deep breaths. April 19th (Spring Break) will be here soon.
On Monday, your child will be bringing home a packet with information from Panorama regarding a parent survey. This is a great opportunity for families to provide critical feedback to increase Mt. Vernon’s and Wake County’s practices. These surveys can be completed on a paper copy (your child will bring home on Monday) or online. Either way will require you to use your student’s unique ID number. We will have laptops available at Mt. Vernon if you would like to fill it out while on campus. Since we are such a small school, our goal is 100% participation. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Smith.
We have finished 3rd Quarter. Report cards will be completed and mailed home on April 4. If you do not receive them in the mail by April 11, please contact the school.
Wake County’s Office of Equity Affairs is sponsoring a wonderful event for all male students of color from grades 3-12. The event is titled, “Choice not Chance: Wake Young Men’s Conference” and will be held on Saturday, April 6 @ East Millbrook Middle School. Here is the information. What a great opportunity for some of our students to know that success is right around the corner.
Please continue monitoring your child’s MAV Sheet nightly. This behavior management system serves to provide immediate positive feedback to our students while addressing areas in need of improvement. At times, the MAV sheets will also contain important pieces of information for you and your family.
