3/4 Principal Message

Mt. Vernon Parents/Guardians,

We are moving along in Quarter 3. We have approximately 4-weeks remaining until the quarter end. This leaves 4-weeks for our students to show their teachers what they can do. Please keep an eye on your child’s Homebase account and their assignments.

On Wednesday of this week, we will participate in the Statewide Tornado / Severe Weather Drill.  We suggest that families also talk about how to be prepared for severe weather.  Our drill procedures at school require students to move to safer places within the school and the classroom, to cover their heads with their arms and remain silent.  Previous drills have been quick and efficient. We anticipate this drill last approximately ten minutes

As a reminder, Mt. Vernon MS will be on a 2-hr early release schedule this coming Friday, March 8. Students will be dismissed from campus at approximately 12:20pm.

Parents, we will be hosting a Family Engagement Event on Wednesday, March 13 @ 6:30pm. The topic will be Learn How to Motivate Your Child to Thrive in School. Dinner and childcare will be made available. Students will be bringing home more information later this week. Here is the flyer.

Please continue monitoring your child’s MAV Sheet nightly. This behavior management system serves to provide immediate positive feedback to our students while addressing areas in need of improvement. At times, the MAV sheets will also contain important pieces of information for you and your family.
