Recent Awards and Celebrations

  • Great news from Mrs. Wright and her students. Our team of MBSA students, Parisa Majumdar, Shawn Ye, and Anila Mani, have been selected as one of the 24 regional winning projects in the 2024-2025 Toshiba/NSTA ExploraVision competition! Thousands of team entries were submitted from across the United States and Canada in response to ExploraVision’s 33rd annual challenge to young people to create a vision of a new technology. ExploraVision selects 24 Regional Winners, one winner in every grade level in each of six regions. Their team’s project was selected as the top project for the 10th grade level in our region!   These talented students are creating a website and a prototype of their invention LeukoTrace which is an innovative blood screening method for Leukemia. Please see the following link if you wish to read about their work https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1mGfHSRKLhffw7egF51mt4B8MWAL-JNFL?usp=sharing. They are advancing to the National level and have a chance to win scholarships and a trip to Washington DC in June.
  • Great news from Dr. Culbreth: Regeneron Science Talent Search (STS) is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science research competition for high school students. Started in 1942 as the Westinghouse Science Talent Search, Regeneron STS recognizes and empowers our nation’s most promising young scientists who are developing ideas that could solve society’s most urgent challenges. Regeneron Science Talent Search alumni have gone on to win 13 Nobel Prizes, 23 MacArthur Fellowships, and have founded numerous world-changing companies, including Regeneron. Students from across the nation submit research projects to the Society for Science in hopes of becoming one of 300 scholars from a pool of 2,471 entrants, the largest pool of applicants since 1967, based on the originality and creativity of their scientific research, as well as their achievement and leadership both inside and outside of the classroom. If they are one of the 300 scholars, they advance to the next round and compete for 40 finalist spots by making an academic poster and recording a video presentation. The finalists then compete for more than $1.8 million in total scholarship prizes, with a top prize of $250,000 by traveling to D.C. and giving a presentation to the public in person. The Regeneron Science Talent Search 2025 finalists represent 39 schools across 16 states. Notice that there are 40 finalists and only 39 schools, that's because Enloe was the only school in the nation to have 2 students in the finals
    • If you see Phoebe Xu, congratulate her on being one of the top 40 young scientists in the nation! She studied how immune cells change how they use energy after a human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection, possibly leading to new treatment methods for HIV/AIDS. Here is a link to her research presentation if you're interested.
    • If you see Thanush Patlolla, congratulate him on coming in 9th place and a $50,000 scholarship! His research approximated the density of electrons using a finite nuclear model using a density function, he created a model to map electrons in a nuclear simulation. The map increased the accuracy of energy distribution predictions by 0.6%. It may seem like 0.6% is not much, but applications of quantum computing require extremely precise measurements of energy states, so his work will drastically improve the efficacy of quantum computers. Here is a link to his research presentation if you're interested.
  • Great news from Mrs. Ledford: I am excited to share that one of our remarkable MBSA students, Anvith Narayana, has been named a finalist in the 2025 America's Next Great Intern contest by Rubin! Anvith has been recognized in this nationwide competition for his exceptional employability skills, including email etiquette, job interview preparation, and ethical decision-making. Please take a moment to vote for Anvith and help him secure the title of 2025 America's Next Great Intern. The winner will receive a virtual job shadow opportunity with the NBA, a fantastic honor that could greatly benefit Anvith's career journey. You can cast your vote at rubineducation.com/vote. Let's rally together to support Anvith and share this exciting news with others! Thank you for your support!
  • Congratulations to Major Rob and his students who supported the NCAE Convention Opening Ceremony with the Enloe Color Guard.
