Recent Awards and Celebrations
Enloe Junior, Evelyn Gardiner, has earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouting. Only 5% of Girl Scouts achieve this level. Evie worked 90 hours on her project entitled "Emotions Through Art". She developed and implemented a visual journaling lesson for children ages 5-10 years old to address mental health issues, which were exacerbated by the pandemic. Through her project, Evie taught her lesson to 85 children at Arts Together, Partnership Elementary, and a local Girl Scout Troop. Additionally, she presented her lesson to 44 educators (area elementary school guidance counselors, the entire staff of Partnership Elementary, and central and northern Wake County Girl Scout Troop leaders). One component that distinguishes the Gold Award is the program sustainability requirement. Of the educators surveyed by Evie at the conclusion of her presentations, 85% said they would continue teaching visual journaling to their students and the other 15% said they may continue teaching visual journaling. "Emotions Through Art" will continue to impact youth in the future and we consider that a big win!
