New Announcements
-
Carpool Reminders: We are noticing an increasing number of cars in our carpool lane between 7:15 and 7:25. To alleviate congestion and ensure a smoother start to the day, we want to inform our new families and remind our returning families the building is open for students starting at 6:45 AM and you may drop off starting then.
- Be aware, the closer the time gets to 7:25 AM, the more congested the carpool lane becomes. We encourage you to consider arranging for earlier drop-off times to avoid heavy traffic.
- We also want to again encourage families to consider carpooling. Please find the link for ride sharing to Enloe here, as well as on the Enloe High School page.
- Finally, we remind you that dropping off students on Clarendon Crescent is not allowed. This practice poses significant safety hazards and contributes to the congestion in the area.
- We need your cooperation to provide a safe, efficient drop-off and pick-up experience for our students.
-
Chromebook Distribution: If your student does not have a WCPSS issued chromebook, please ask them to stop by the media center so we can request a chromebook for them. It is important that your student has a WCPSS issued chromebook for testing purposes.
Recurring Announcements
Please review with your child/children the following important information. Enloe utilizes a tardy procedure and a cell phone use procedure. It is vital that students know they are to be in class on time, and they are to follow all classroom cell phone use procedures. Although we will share the procedures with the students, we’d like to ask that you review the procedures with them as well.
- Tardy Procedures: To maximize student instruction, all students must report to class on time and be prepared to learn. In order to ensure a positive outcome, all teachers will be committed to the procedures below:
-
Classroom doors will be closed and locked at the tardy bell (teachers use discretion when students are within sight), flexibility for tardies will be given at the start of the year until room locations are learned
-
Students who are in class are not allowed to leave the room for the first 10 minutes of class and the last 10 minutes of class (this procedure is being looked at)
-
Teachers will sweep/clear the halls
-
Students will go to the nearest tardy station (locations will be in the East, West, and Towers).
-
After the halls are fully clear, teachers will stop sweeping
-
Students sent to the tardy station will give their ID # to the adults at the table
-
Tardies will be tracked
-
Students will receive a tardy pass back to class unless they have more than six per quarter, then they will receive a pass to ALC to serve a period of ALC or a day of ALC depending on the number of tardies accumulated
-
Teachers will accept students’ passes upon return and let them into the classroom
-
-
-
Students will be given a “clean slate” each quarter and tardies will start over at zero on day one of the new quarter
-
Tardy Consequences (steps) & Documentation Guidelines
- Step 1 - For each tardy #1- 6 - Warning from the tardy station, pass to class;
- Step 2 - For each tardy #7- 9 - One period of ALC, Parent Notification;
- Step 3 - For tardy #10 - One day of ALC;
- Step 4 - For tardy #11 - 13 - resets to step #2 (11, 12, 13 is one period of ALC and so on);
- Step 5 - For tardy #14 - One day of ALC, Parent, Counselor, Intervention Team Notification
- Enloe Cell Phone Use Procedures: The improper use of cell phones in high schools can negatively impact students' academic performance and social development, highlighting the need for effective cell phone procedures. To enhance the learning experience of every student, Enloe has implemented Cell Phone Procedures. Each classroom has a “Cell Phone Use Procedures” poster displayed. Teachers will review the specific expectations for cell phone use during their individual classes.
- An example of classroom expectations may look as follows (individual teachers may develop varying expectations based on their classroom structure/needs):
- Red: Keep personal electronic devices (including headphones) silent and out of sight. Ex: During tests.
- Yellow: Use personal electronic devices to help you meet your learning goals. Ex: Using your phone to watch a video about astronomy for the lesson.
- Green: You may use personal devices in this space as long as it doesn’t interfere with your learning or anyone else’s. Ex:listening to music while working on an independent activity. No scrolling.
-
PSAT/NMSQT Registration Open (10th & 11th Grade Only): All Payments Due by September 6th. Visit our testing page (linked here) for registration information.
