Principal's Post | April 12, 2021
I hope you each had a wonderful track out and are looking forward to an exciting 4th quarter! Please take a moment to read the important information below:
Learning This Week (Click Here for School Calendars)
- Students return, both virtually and in-person, to begin Q4 on Wednesday, April 14. There is no school on Monday or Tuesday.
- Wednesday is DAY ONE on the Q4 Specials Rotation. We will end the week with DAY THREE on Friday.
Teacher Changes Due to Platform Changes
Nearly 60 students will be returning to the building for 4th quarter from Virtual Academy. With the exception of 5th graders and students who were in a hybrid classroom (Ms. K. Williams and Ms. Hines), all of these students will be assigned a new teacher for the 4th quarter. Due to the increased number of students in the building, and the class size limits under North Carolina law, some students, both in-person and VA, will be assigned a new teacher for the 4th quarter. Teacher changes will be sent to parents via email by 10:00 am on Monday morning. Parents can expect initial communication from teachers by the end of the day on Monday.
Q4 Material Distribution and Return for Virtual Academy (VA) Learners
If your child is VA in 4th quarter, please come to school to pick up their materials during one of the two windows provided:
- Monday, April 12, from 4:00-7:00 pm
- Tuesday, April 13, from 8:00-10:00 am
Please return previously borrowed materials that are no longer needed. Click here to see what we are collecting.
Attendance for In-Person Students
Students who are learning in-person will be marked as Absent/Unexcused if they are not physically in the building for school. Absences may be excused for students who are sick, have medical/dental appointments, are in quarantine, or have another pre-approved excused absence. If students have a routine excused absence due to being sick, students will be marked “absent excused” and will make up their work when they are well and can return to school. Students who are ill must meet the criteria for returning to school after an illness.
Students who have been instructed to quarantine by a medical provider will be temporarily served by a Virtual Teacher for the length of their quarantine. Please note, it will not be possible for Daily In Person students to simply “log in” to participate virtually if they are not medically directed to quarantine.
