Returning to In-Person Learning/Learning This Week

WCPSS has posted important information for families about returning to in-person learning, linked here. Additionally, we have information specific to Brier Creek on our website. For more information on what health screenings look like at Brier Creek, this video demonstrates our process. Lastly, if your child will be coming to campus for the first time this week, we made this video to try to help quell any anxiety they may be feeling. We look forward to seeing children on our campus tomorrow!

Spirit Week is Coming February 22-28

In honor of our 100th day of school on Friday, February 26, we will have a Spirit Week that week! We hope kids will participate whether they are learning from home or learning in person. This flyer tells you more about what each day looks like. The days are:

  • Monday: Stoplight Day
  • Tuesday: Grade-Level Day
  • Wednesday: Inside Out Day
  • Thursday: School Colors Day
  • Friday: 100th Day!

Meal Benefits Applications

Parents, please consider applying for meal benefits by Feb 26. By submitting a qualifying application, families will also support the district in qualifying for additional funds to support students and learning! Also, the NC Department of Health & Human Services will soon begin collecting free and reduced lunch data from WCPSS to determine families that will receive additional Pandemic Electronic Benefits (P-EBT) that will be issued in the coming months! By not applying for these meal benefits, you will miss the opportunity to receive direct P-EBT funds for your family!

Yes, meals will still be free for all students through June 2021 but we still need you to complete a meal benefits application so our school can be eligible for this extra funding next year. Information about applying for Meal Benefits for the 2020-21 school year can be found at Help our school continue to receive this funding by completing an application online at Paper applications can be requested by calling 919-588-3535.

Positivity Project This Week: Humility

This week, we'll begin learning about HUMILITY. This strength is shown through not seeking the spotlight. Letting actions speak for themselves. Humble people have an accurate (not underestimated) sense of their abilities and achievements. They hold the capacity to acknowledge their mistakes and limitations, and are open to advice and new ideas. They do not show off their possessions or accomplishments. For a 1-page character card overview, click here. And, for P2 for Families (password: P2), click here.

I hope each of you has a wonderful week!

My Best,

Kathy Livengood
