Principal's Post | November 23, 2020
Despite the challenges of the current pandemic, we still have so much to be thankful for here at Brier Creek. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve your child and your family and to be a part of your daily lives. Please take a few minutes to check out this week’s updates:
Instruction This Week
Monday and Tuesday will both be asynchronous learning days. This is a change from what was previously communicated due to new, clarifying information from the district. Live instruction is permitted, but not required. Wednesday through Friday, school is closed for students and staff for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Enjoy!
Health and Safety in Our School
As a parent, I know receiving two messages last week about COVID cases in our school community was alarming. As a part of a larger community with rising numbers of cases, it is really not surprising that someone in our community would contract the virus. Unfortunately, we cannot control the spread in the community, but we can control spreading coronavirus in our school. I am confident when I tell you that our practices and protocols here at school are working and that the virus has not spread on our campus. Daily health screenings, strict adherence to masking, physical distancing, and frequent hand washing are all important ways we keep our school community safe.
Also important is that students who are showing any signs or symptoms of illness stay home. We also ask that if there is anyone in your household who isn’t feeling well, that students do not come to school. To learn more about when students can return to school following illness of themselves or a family member, please visit our website.

News from Ms. Lee
One of our School Counselors, Ms. Lee, is leaving our school. Ms. Lee began as a teacher at Brier Creek before earning her School Counselor license. She has served our community for over 11 years and will be deeply missed. She has asked me to share the message below with families:
Hello Brier Creek families,
It is with very mixed emotions that I am sharing with you that Friday, November 20th, was my last day at Brier Creek Elementary School as one of the school counselors. I have decided to take a school counseling position at a school much closer to my home and family. Although I know this is the best decision for my personal family, I will miss my Brier Creek school families, staff, and students VERY much! I have absolutely LOVED working with so many of you during my 11 years here at Brier Creek as a teacher and as a school counselor. Thank you for working with me over all these years. Please stay in touch!
Jen Lee :)
We have already made a recommendation to Human Resources for a new School Counselor to begin with us prior to the Winter Break. I look forward to sharing more information as soon as I am able.
