Principal's Post | October 15, 2020
Greetings Jet Parents!! It was wonderful to welcome back teachers today for their first Teacher Workday for Q2. I look forward to welcoming back all of our students virtually this coming Monday! As we prepare for in-person learning to begin for some Plan B students on Monday, October 26, you can expect the frequency of communication you receive from me will increase, as there is much information to share. Please take a few moments to read today’s updates below:
Q2 Material Distribution
We have learning materials ready for ALL STUDENTS to be picked up tomorrow, Friday, October 16, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. If you are not able to come to school during that time, you are able to have a friend or neighbor pick up materials, or you may come by the office any day next week between the hours of 9 am and 4 pm.
In addition to distributing Q2 materials, parents will also be able to pick-up new tags for carpool and walkers. Also, if you are having any issues with a WCPSS-issued Chromebook, please bring it with you on Friday and a staff member will be available to trouble-shoot problems with you.
Instruction Next Week
All students will remain in 100% virtual instruction next week, following the same live schedule from Q1 for Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Wednesday will be an asynchronous day, meaning students will have learning activities, but will not have live meetings with teachers.
Transitioning to In-Person Instruction
As you know, K-3 and EBS students not enrolled in Virtual Academy will begin transitioning to in-person instruction in 3-week rotations and begin in-person instruction daily beginning November 16. Fourth and fifth grade students will begin in-person instruction in rotations on November 16. Parents should have received cohort assignments for their child(ren) last week. If you do not know your child’s rotation assignment, please reach out to your child’s teacher. A detailed calendar will be distributed with your child’s Q2 learning materials.
Here at school, we are working together to establish our school processes and procedures. I know you have questions about what school will look like and what the expectations are. I encourage you to review the new information on the WCPSS Return to Campus website and take some time to begin the important conversations with your child about what it will be like when they return to school.
You can expect (MUCH!) more information from me and your teachers in the coming weeks as we begin this transition to in-person instruction.
