20-21 Information for Parents | July 14, 2020
Good morning Jets Families and WELCOME to our families who are joining Brier Creek this year!
As we continue to navigate these uncharted skies of 2020, I want to make sure you have the information you need as a Jet parent to make the decisions that are best for your family and that you understand the planning, structures, and processes & procedures for the 20-21 school year here at Brier Creek. In addition to the information below, information in the WCPSS Return-To-Campus Guide, and information on our website, I will host a parent information session Wednesday evening at 6:00 pm on Google Meet. More information about that is also included below.
Information Subject to Change
The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our first priority. While we are moving forward with planning, those plans can shift at any time based on guidance from the Governor, the CDC, NC DPI, and/or NC Dept. of Health & Human Services. We will keep you updated with the latest information through social media, our website, and messages to you.
Virtual Academy Enrollment is Now Open
All parents have the option of enrolling their child(ren) in the WCPSS Virtual Academy. These students will remain enrolled in our school. Some of our teachers will become Virtual Academy teachers and supports such as Special Education, AIG, 504 plans, counseling & student services, and more will be provided by BCES staff. To learn more about the Virtual Academy or to enroll, visit the WCPSS Virtual Academy website. Enrollment ends on July 20.
Students will return to campus this fall using a blended learning model where students will attend school in-person for one week of every three. During the other two weeks, students will participate in remote learning off-campus. Your child’s group assignment will be shared in early August. More details are available in the WCPSS Return-to-Campus Guide.
BCES Parent Information Session
Join me and other staff Wednesday evening at 6:00 pm to hear more about our plans for 20-21, including what you can expect from in-person learning, remote learning, and the Virtual Academy. I will also discuss the calendar, track assignments, and plans for Kindergarten Orientation and Meet the Teacher. To join the livestream, click here. It will also be recorded and available for you to watch at a later time.
