Principal's Post 16 | March 16, 2020
Good evening Jets Families,
By now, I am sure you have heard the news that all public schools in North Carolina will be closed until at least March 27. While there are still many more questions than answers as to what comes next, it is important we focus on the immediate and most important thing - keeping our students, staff, and families safe and healthy. As new information is released, I will keep you updated and be available to answer any questions you might have.
Though this Principal’s Post looks very different from previous posts, I do still have important information to communicate with you:
Building Hours on Tuesday
The building will be closed to staff and the public on Monday, March 16. On Tuesday, March 17, the building will be open from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm for staff and families to pick up personal items. If your child left belongings in his or her classroom, or if you need to pick up medication from the office, please come to the school on Tuesday afternoon.
Donations for Families in Need
School staff and the PTA are working together to plan to supply food and other necessities to our Jets families in need. Please see the Amazon wishlist from the PTA below, or you can drop-off food and necessities at school during building hours on Tuesday. Donation drop-offs will be drive-thru style in the bus loop, directly across from Walgreens. Since delivery will be soon, perishable items, like bread, will be accepted. In addition to bread, some suggested items are pasta & sauce, mac & cheese dinners, juice boxes, water bottles, peanut butter & jelly, pancake mix & syrup, cereal, oatmeal, canned fruit & veggies, and intact fresh fruit & veggies. Small refrigerated items, like string cheese and yogurt tubes, will also be accepted. Other items that would be appreciated include soap, paper towels, toilet paper, toothbrushes and toothpaste, and deodorant.
Continuing Learning When School is Out
During this time, teachers will not be teaching new material, grading/assessing work, or giving curricular projects. We have, however, compiled resources that parents can use to support their children’s education during their time out of school. Please go to our website or to bit.ly/KeepLearningJets to check out online resources. Additionally, teachers may post grade-level specific materials to their Google Site for parents to access.

Field Trip Refunds
Did you pay for a Field Trip that has been cancelled? When we return to school, teachers will send home information on how to get a refund for a field trip.
Track Change Request Period
The Track Change Request period will still begin on March 23. Parents can request a track change for next year online. Check the website on March 23 for additional information.
PTA News and Updates from your PTA President, Brittany Wells
- Our Spring Family Night on Thursday, April 2nd and Spring buy one, get one free Scholastic book fair have been cancelled. Once we return to school, we will see if they are both feasible to reschedule. Thank you for understanding!

- The nominations committee is already starting to look for PTA officers, board positions, and chairs for all of our committees for the 2020-21 school year.
