Assistant Principal Named for Brier Creek ES

Jets Families,

 

Please join me in welcoming Loren Pinkney to the Brier Creek Family! Mr. Pinkney was appointed by the WCPSS Board of Education Tuesday evening as the next Assistant Principal for Brier Creek Elementary! He will officially join us on November 18th from his current position as Assistant Principal at Lufkin Road Year Round Middle School. I am thankful that Ms. Broady has agreed to stay on with us through November 15th.

 

Mr. Pinkney grew up in Columbus, Georgia and moved to North Carolina when he was awarded a football scholarship from NC State University. He graduated from NC State in education and went on to teach Middle School Math at West Lake Middle School. After getting his Masters Degree in Instructional Technology, Mr. Pinkney transitioned to a Network Administrator position at Southeast Raleigh High School. When Mr. Pinkney received his degree in School Administration, he transitioned to Garner High School and then to Lufkin Road Middle School in Assistant Principal positions. Mr. Pinkney has 24 years of experience in education and loves coming to work every day in order to help students to be their best and do their best. He sees education as a calling on his life and he is very passionate about helping students and working with the school community. After working in both the high school and middle school settings, Loren is very excited about the opportunity to work with elementary students at Brier Creek! He is excited about the opportunity to make a great positive impact in the lives of Brier Creek Elementary students alongside the rest of the school staff.

 

Outside of school, Mr. Pinkney is actively involved in his church. He is a former part-time youth pastor and has been a youth group speaker, a mentor to youth, a counselor in the Upward Bound program, a tutor, and a homebound instructor. Mr. Pinkney has also been on several mission trips to the Dominican Republic and Ukraine where he worked with kids of all ages. Mr. Pinkney is an avid NC State sports fan and a big football fan in general. He is married with 3 children ages 19, 9, and 3.

 

I look forward to being able to officially introduce Mr. Pinkney to you soon! In the meantime, I would again like to thank the interview team of Hannah Braunstein, Tracey Joyner, Randi Woodruff, Melissa Gough, Ashley Baldwin, Julia Hendricks, Julie Piltzer, Kay Self, Jessica VonDerHeide, Brittany Wells, and James Hales, who helped with this decision. Your presence and engagement was vital to the process!
