2019-2020 School Supplies

The Brier Creek PTA offers you a hassle free way to buy your child's school supplies for the upcoming school year. We have partnered again with EduKit Inc. to bundle all the supplies the teachers are requesting for the 2019-2020 school year in one box. You also have the opportunity to add on a small box of wish list items for your teacher, which include community items such as tissues, baggies and sticky notes.

Go to Brier Creek EduKit  now and order before the deadline of Thursday, May 30 for T1/T2/T3 or June 14 for T4.. There will be no late orders permitted this year. Order now and your child’s school supplies will be delivered to their NEW classroom in time for the 1st day of school!

Lunch Visitors on Testing Days

Often, we have modified schedules on days we are conducting EOG testing in the upper grades, including altered lunch times and students eating in the classroom. Please plan to visit your child on another day to have lunch with him/her.

Summer Heat Has Arrived

Keeping our children healthy is a must! Please send a closeable/sealable water bottle to school with your child so that he/she can stay hydrated throughout the day. Also, when the temperatures rise, we follow the guidelines below regarding outdoor recess:

  • When the temperature is predicted to be between 90 and 94 degrees, outdoor activity is limited to 15 minutes
  • When the temperature is predicted to be 95 degrees or higher, outdoor recess will be prior to 11:00 am and limited to 15 minutes
  • If a day is designated as a Code Orange day, outdoor activity is limited to 15 minutes
  • If a day is designated as a Code Red day, students will remain indoors all day

Students will still be provided 30 minutes of recess each day, however, when temperatures are extreme, some or all of that time is indoors. If you have specific concerns about your child and how he/she handles the heat, please reach out to your child’s teacher and/or our School Nurse, Amy Sutton (

KinderJet Orientation

Do you know someone who has a rising Kindergartener at Brier Creek next year? If so, will you please reach out and make sure they got the email & text that I sent out last week with important information for parents about KinderJet Orientation this Saturday and how to prepare for Kindergarten. If your friend or neighbor did not receive the email or text, please have him/her email our Data Manager, Mark Flynn (, to ensure we have their contact information. Please be aware that Mr. Flynn is out of the office this week and will return next week.

Didn’t get a chance to read last week’s message? Click here to get caught up now. Please reach out to your child’s teacher with questions.

Thank you and take care,

Kathy Livengood
