Principal's Message, 11-22-19
Greetings Stough Families,
Here are your weekly updates:
1. Happy Thanksgiving! Next week is a two-day week of school. Students are out starting Wednesday, 11/27 and return Monday, December 2.
2. As a Global School, we're excited to offer quarterly whole-school learning experiences aligned with the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals from the United Nations. This Tuesday, all students will participate in learning rotations aligned with Goal #2, Zero Hunger. Be sure to ask your student about his or her learning on a globally-relevant topic after our Learning Experience on Tuesday.
3. Coach Hooker is sending home a sheet in Friday Folders with an invitation for "Take Your Parent to PE Week," which is coming up starting on December 9.
4. Are you interested in your child learning Spanish? I've been given an opportunity to host a weekly afterschool Spanish-learning opportunity (for a cost) on-site at Stough. Here's the link to the program: After-school Spanish Classes ... If interested, please fill-out this brief Google Form. If enough Stough families commit, I will sign on for classes starting in the third quarter (late January/early February). Please respond by December 13.
5. READ-volution powers into December. My own fourth grader met her goal last week and told me she was taking me to a Hurricanes game!Remember that students can keep logging their reading through their Wake ID or through this link. Whether your student is logging his or her reading or not, please remember the value of reading at least twenty minutes every night!
6. I enjoyed seeing several families at Kitchen Table for the most recent family night. There are more opportunities coming up! Here are the updates from your Stough PTA:

7. Our focus on the trait of GRATITUDE will continue in morning meetings and throughout each school day next week. I shared a quote from Aesop with our students this week: "Gratitude turns what we have into enough." May we all consider what we have in life and gain a more appreciative perspective regarding what we have.
To our Stallion students and families, I'm grateful for you.
Best regards,
Chris Cox, Principal
