Brentwood Elementary School Families,

 

First, know that we are currently in Code Green and all students are safe. 

 

Thank you for your patience and support of our school while we worked through today’s situation. 

 

To keep you informed, I want to share a full update of today’s events.

 

This morning, a student reported to a teacher that another student may have a weapon. 

 

Out of an abundance of caution, we went into a Code Red lockdown at 11:16 a.m. while the matter was investigated.

 

Raleigh Police Department investigated and identified the student. There were no weapons involved and the threat was deemed not credible.

 

The Code Red was lifted at 12:22 p.m.

 

In a code red lockdown, the entire building is locked down. No one is
allowed to enter or exit the building until an all-clear announcement is
received from police.

 

These steps are taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety
of our students and faculty.

 

I greatly appreciate the support of the Raleigh Police Department and the WCPSS Security Department. I am so grateful for the care and diligence they practiced today and everyday to ensure the safety of our staff and students. 

 

The best means to keep schools safe is to maintain healthy and open relationships between adults and students at all times. Please help us remind students that they have an obligation to bring information about situations that cause them concern to adults at the school so that we can respond quickly and appropriately to protect their safety.

Know that we will continue to take every measure to ensure the safety of our students.

Familias de la Escuela Primaria Brentwood,

 

Gracias por su paciencia y apoyo a nuestra escuela mientras trabajábamos en la situación de hoy.

 

Con el fin de mantenerlos informados, deseo compartir una actualización completa de los eventos de hoy.

 

Esta mañana, un estudiante le informó a un maestro que otro estudiante podría tener un arma.

 

Por precaución, entramos en un cierre de Código Rojo a las 11:16 a.m. mientras se investigaba el asunto.

 

El Departamento de Policía de Raleigh investigó e identificó al estudiante. No hubo armas involucradas y la amenaza no se consideró creíble.

 

El Código Rojo se levantó a las 12:22 p.m.

 

Durante un cierre de codigo rojo, todo el edificio está cerrado bajo llave. No se permite que nadie entre o salga del edificio hasta que se reciba un anuncio de la policía de que todo está despejado.

 

Estos pasos se toman como medida de precaución para garantizar la seguridad

de nuestros estudiantes y personal.

 

Agradezco enormemente el apoyo del Departamento de Policía de Raleigh y el Departamento de Seguridad de WCPSS. Estoy muy agradecido por el cuidado y la diligencia que practicaron hoy y todos los días para garantizar la seguridad de nuestro personal y estudiantes.

 

La mejor manera de mantener las escuelas seguras es mantener relaciones sanas y abiertas entre adultos y estudiantes en todo momento. Ayúdenos a recordar a los estudiantes que tienen la obligación de compartir información sobre situaciones que les preocupan a los adultos de la escuela para que podamos responder de manera rápida y adecuada para proteger su seguridad.
