Principal’s Message

Greetings Washington Families,

Washington is in the running for the top magnet school in America. We all know this to be true. The kids and staff rocked the visit and it's all now up to the judges. Regardless of how it all plays out, Washington is truly an awe-inspiring place to be - be proud and continue to support your child “to do them” and lead them to their calling.

Let’s make it a great week at 1000 Fayetteville Street!

Magically,

Doug Hooper, Interim Principal

Joyce Ratley, Assistant Principal

School Updates

Congratulations to the  Odyssey of the Mind teams! They competed locally last weekend and have advanced to the State Championships! The students were so excited, they could not wait to share the news with everyone on Monday. 🏆 Thank you also to the parents who stayed after school with Mr. Bastin, Ms. Eacret, and Mr. Jenkins to prepare students for the competition and transport props.

Cell Phone/Communication Device Use -WCPSS board policy 6446 bans the use of, display of, or having in the “on” position any wireless communication device or personal entertainment device by students during the school day. This includes items such as cell phones, two-way radios, iPods, electronic games, and laser pointers. Items in violation of this policy can be confiscated and would need to be picked up by the parent from the principal. If you need to get an important message to your child, please contact the front office.

Lunch Visits: We have enjoyed having parents stop by to eat lunch with their child(ren). Please note that your child may invite 2 classmates to have lunch with them. It is difficult to know if their peers are able to have outside food(allergies, religious beliefs, etc) unless they have their parent’s permission. Please keep this in mind if you want to treat other students. If you have any questions, please see administration.

Transportation Updates: Please check your child’s bus tag or transportation assignment in PowerSchool. If there is a bus delay or no driver for a route, we may attempt to contact parents based on our current list. We will always send out a message via Dojo. If your child is not assigned to a stop in the afternoon, you may not be notified by phone.  Students are removed from routes if they do not ride consistently, or ride a bus they are not assigned to. Bus routes are assigned by student addresses, so keep us posted on any address changes.
