2.20.23 The Washington Weekly

Principal’s Message

Greetings Washington Families,

I don't have to tell you the awesomeness of Washington GT. What I do have to tell you is that the awesomeness is being recognized at the National Level. Magnet Schools of America will be visiting on March 8, 2023. We are up for National recognition. They will see the level of excellence that occurs on a daily basis. We will not be doing extra. What teachers and staff will be doing is what they do - creating the conditions for your kiddos to rock it. Without the adults and, more importantly, your kiddos, all Washington GT is is a brick building. With the adults and your kiddos, Washington GT is a living, breathing environment for students to excel. The point is it’s all about the people and what they do!!!

Let’s make it a great week at 1000 Fayetteville Street!

Magically,

Doug Hooper, Interim Principal

Joyce Ratley, Assistant Principal

School Updates

Thank you, PTA!! Valentine’s Day for the staff was amazing with the coffee and treat bar!  We loved it!

Reminders:  Our instructional day begins at 9:20. If your child arrives in carpool or at the office at or after 9:20, they are considered tardy. The first part of the day is crucial for your child’s success. This is when classes are engaged in check-ins, community building, and planning for a successful day.

Students should not be left alone in carpool, or at the front of the building prior to 8:50, as there is no supervision from staff prior to that time.  Families waiting to drop off their own children cannot be responsible for your child.  Washington provides before care that opens at 7:00 AM daily. You can contact the front office for additional information. Please help us to ensure the safety of all children.

Transportation changes should be made prior to 3:00. Please contact the front office at 919-856-7960, to make these changes. Do not send Dojo messages to Administration or teachers as the message may not be viewed before dismissal.  Bus changes will be posted as soon as we receive them.
