Principal’s Message

Greetings Washington Families,

Washington GT Magnet has been recognized as a Top School of Excellence by Magnet Schools of America! This should come as no surprise. Washington is an excellent school with truly outstanding staff members. When you add the students into the mix - you get awesomeness!!

Amy Wilkinson, the Magnet Coordinator, was also recognized by WCPSS Human Resources with an Employee Excellence Award.

All I can say is Washington ES rocks and I’m glad I had an opportunity to see the hard work done every day by all.

Be on the lookout for information about Arts and Letters Night at the end of February.

Let’s make it a great week at 1000 Fayetteville Street!

Magically,

Doug Hooper, Interim Principal

Joyce Ratley, Assistant Principal

School Updates

Washington has been named one of the top 2023 Magnet Schools of Excellence by Magnet Schools of America, the national association for magnet and theme-based schools. The school will be recognized and receive a National Magnet School of Excellence Merit Award during an awards ceremony held during Magnet Schools of America’s 40th National Conference in April 2023.

To receive a national merit award, members of Magnet Schools of America must submit a detailed application that is scored by a panel of educators. These schools are judged and scored on their demonstrated ability to raise student academic achievement, promote racial and socioeconomic diversity, provide integrated curricula and instruction, and create strong family and community partnerships that enhance the school’s magnet theme.

We are so proud of this recognition! 🎉
