Principal’s Message

Greetings Washington Families,

This year’s theater production, Moana, was a huge success! Thank you, staff and students, for your dedication and hard work. It really paid off! The show was amazing! To all the parents and school community friends that supported the production, before, during, and helped with the breakdown after the show, we appreciate you all! The cast and crew also enjoyed a great cast party after the show. Thank you, Alyson Smith, PTA President, and parents!

Our school’s annual production is one of the best ways to witness the magic of magnet schools. You can see students display their gifts and talents through acting, costume and set design, and stage management. The Magnet application period ends on Wednesday, January 25, 2023.

Let’s make it a great week at 1000 Fayetteville Street!

Magically,

Doug Hooper, Interim Principal

Joyce Ratley, Assistant Principal

School Updates

5th Grade Magnet Families please remember you must apply for a seat at a magnet middle school if you wish for your child to continue in the magnet program. The deadline is this Wednesday, January 25th. Students have the highest priority if they apply to the GT magnet school for their address. This could either be Carnage, Ligon, or Martin Middle School. If you have questions please reach out to Mrs. Wilkinson (awilkinson@wcpss.net).

Do you have a rising Kindergarten sibling for the 2023-24 school year? If so, please don’t forget to apply for a magnet seat for them as well!

Electives

We are working hard to have elective schedules completed by the middle of the week. The tech issue with OASIS has been resolved and you should be able to view your child’s schedule at this time. If you have questions about your child’s schedule, please reach out to Mrs. Wilkinson (awilkinson@wcpss.net).
