BOLTS Broadcast - March 17-21, 2025
On Tuesday night we had the joy of inducting dozens of 7th graders into our National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). This event allows us to celebrate our students’ academic achievements and their character! It is also a recognition of your work paying off! Congratulations to our families who had a child inducted this week!
This week our band students also competed in MPAs! They sounded impressive and scored SUPERIORS!!!! It is always a joy to see our students engaged in their passions!
This past week, I celebrated my two-year anniversary at our school, and I couldn’t be more grateful to be part of this incredible community! As I reflect on the past two years, I am overwhelmed with appreciation for our families and the trust you place in us every day.
Together, we have:
✅ Strengthened our school culture, as shown in our improved survey results—proof that our partnership makes a difference.
✅ Built stronger relationships between families and our school, creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all.
✅ Helped our students grow and thrive, thanks to the dedication of our amazing teachers, staff, and YOU—our families—who support learning at home.
These successes didn’t happen by chance. They happened because of our shared commitment to our students, our belief in their potential, and our willingness to work together to help them succeed.
On a personal note, middle school wasn’t my easiest time. I struggled, made my fair share of mistakes, and wasn’t always sure where I was headed. That’s why leading a middle school—this middle school—has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. I know how important these years are, and I see every day how much our families and staff do to ensure students feel seen, supported, and valued.
I am so proud to be on this journey with you. Thank you for your partnership, your support, and for being an essential part of our school family. Let’s keep working together to make a difference—because what we do matters every single day!
ART CLUB
🎨 Art Club is Back! 🎨
After a successful interest meeting, Art Club is officially up and running again! We’ll meet next on 3/27 at 3:30 to start diving into creative projects and ideas. Spread the word to any students who might be interested, and stay tuned for all the fun things we have planned! As a reminder, students must be picked up at 4:30 in the carpool loop. For any questions please email Ms. Stone at tstone@wcpss.net.SPRING SPORTS SAFETY
As a reminder, when students are tracked out they should be dropped off via carpool at 3:15. Student pick-up after athletics is always on the Bus Loop side of our building. We appreciate you working with us to ensure all of our students are safe by following these procedures.

LUFKIN’S MOTTO:
Lufkin Road Middle School’s current motto, “When Lightning Strikes, Great Things Happen,” has served us well—but it’s time for a fresh spark! A team of staff and students has been brainstorming a new motto to kick off the upcoming school year, and we NEED your input. Click this link to vote for the motto that best represents our school. Your voice matters, and we can’t wait to see what you choose!
Vote now! The form closes TONIGHT—don’t miss your chance to help shape Lufkin’s future!
DRESS CODE REMINDERS
As the weather has gotten warmer, our students’ attire sometimes changes. Please take a moment to review the WCPSS Dress Code policy with your child. We most frequently find ourselves needing to remind students that their outfits should cover their skin from “chest to mid-thigh with opaque fabric in front, back, and on the side.” We appreciate your help in ensuring our students are dressed according to the policy each day!
6th GRADE DANCE
We have our final dance for 6th grade on Friday, March 28th from 3:30-5:30PM. The permission slip for the dance can be found here. Students will also receive a paper copy from their teachers.
PARKING LOT SURVEY
Sometime in the coming weeks, there will be a crew conducting a parking lot survey. This may be during carpool, but should not impact our ability to receive and dismiss students. I share this with you, so you’re aware of why you may see folks in our parking lot doing work during carpool times. They are doing the preliminary steps to begin the process of repaving our parking lot.
SAVE THE DATES
We will hold our end of year Award Ceremonies on:
- Track 1 - May 28
- Tracks 2-4 - June 25
Specific times will be announced closer to the date of the events.
When your child is absent for any reason, please use the attendance email (attendance484@wcpss.net). Please include the student's first and last name, grade/track, reason for absence, and the dates they are absent. This will help code your student accurately. As a reminder, WCPSS Board Policy requires that absence notes are received within 2 days of the absence. If you have any questions about an absence, please contact Mr. Thunes, our Data Manager, at athunes@wcpss.net. If your student is marked absent from a specific class period, please reach out to the teacher first.
