Service Club Nominations Needed
The Millbrook High School Service Club was established in 1978. This honorary club recognizes those students, faculty members, and community members who have rendered outstanding service (above and beyond the expected) to Millbrook High School. It is the goal of the Service Club to ensure that individuals in all areas of the school receive recognition for their true service, which is defined as giving willingly of time and self for the benefit of others. The nomination period for perspective inductees is March 11-March 21. If you think your child is a junior or senior and meets the above definition, please encourage him to either self-nominate or ask a teacher, coach or advisor familiar with his service to consider completing a nomination form on his behalf. These forms are available in the front office and from Mrs. Drabot in Student Services. If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Putnam at mputnam@wcpss.net.

We need 5 seniors for various speaking roles for our Senior Assembly and our Graduation Ceremony. We are holding auditions for these speaking roles after school in the Main Gym on Wednesday, April 24 from 2:45pm - 4:00pm.

Senior GRADitude
Hello Seniors! We want to give you the opportunity to formally thank any member of our Millbrook staff that has had a significant impact on your years at Millbrook. This can be any current teacher, administrator, counselor, support staff member, cafeteria staff member, etc. We will be using the narrative you complete in the form linked below to create cards to distribute to our staff during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 6 - 10.
To share your GRADitude with someone important to you at Millbrook, please complete this form: http://bit.ly/GRADitudeMHS
We will also be selecting a number of seniors, based on the narratives you write, to help us create a "MHSGRADitude Video" of those seniors personally thanking and recognizing a staff member. Our team will contact chosen seniors sometime in late April to share more details.
Media Center March Madness - Week 2
Continuing this week, our Media Center is hosting a March Madness style book face off in the media center. Each week students will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite books until a champion is declared. We want as many students to vote as possible, so please share! We’ll post a link each week for voting. This week, please vote here: https://tinyurl.com/mhsweek2
MYP Personal Project Presentations
Our 10th graders will be presenting their Personal Projects Tuesday through Friday of this week. We will have roughly 600 presentations that will be conducted, and we are thoroughly excited to see what our 10th graders have done or what they have made, and to hear all about their personal interests and what they have learned through this process. We’d like to say goodluck to our 10th graders as they prepare for their presentations! We know they have worked hard, and they deserve recognition for completing what we hope was a personally rewarding and valuable experience!
IB Visual Art Gallery

PTSA Fundraiser at Chipotle
Make dinner a selfless act by dining at Chipotle at 9504 Strickland Road in Raleigh on Monday, March 25 between 5-9PM. Tell the cashier before payment that you're with Millbrook High School to ensure that 33% of the proceeds will be donated to our PTSA! Call 1-800-CHIPOTLE to place your order if you'd like your catering or Burritos by the Box order to count towards the fundraiser. You must place your order at least 24 hours in advance and pick it up during the fundraiser. When you call, let them know you will pay upon pickup. When you pick up your order, alert the cashier before payment that you would like it to count towards the fundraiser. Don't order online! Online orders don't count towards the fundraiser.
IB MYP & DP Project Showcase Night
We are looking for 10th graders and Junior DP students to participate in our IB Project Showcase Night. Any student interested in participating can fill out THIS form.
The Showcase Night will take place Wednesday, May 1 from 6:30pm - 7:30pm. Students will be stationed around the Media Center. Students will not be giving a formal presentation, as families and guests will be moving around the Media Center, but students can expect to discuss and answer questions about their projects.
Participation in this event will count as 2 hours of community service for both MYP students and towards CAS. Students will need to arrive 15-30 minutes prior to start time, depending on the nature of the product, to set up their projects. At 7:30pm, students will have until 8pm to clean up their projects.

Teens and Addiction
MHS PTSA is continuing to work through and meet with different people/professionals on programming to bring to MHS focused on teens and addiction. We know there are a lot of people concerned and looking for resources that are accessible and relevant to our kids, teachers and community. Vetting people and programs takes time and support from WCPSS. We want content that will be appropriate and customized for our school, not something that is generic/one size fits all.
If you have questions, contacts or ideas - please let Jodi Bulmer (jodi.bulmer@gmail.com) know so we can streamline communication and suggestions for consideration. As soon as we have something solidified for our community, we will share it!! I am committed to the long view of this subject and it's impact on all of us.
Annual Academic Celebration
We are looking forward to our annual Academic Celebration April 30 - May 3. This celebration honors students that have an unweighted GPA of 3.5 or higher for the first 3 quarters of the 2018-19 school year. The celebration begins in the auditorium with a brief assembly and recognition of students by school administrators. A breakfast buffet will follow in the cafeteria with food donations from local businesses such as Starbucks, Waffle House, IHOP, and Chick fil A. We will celebrate each grade separately through the week, beginning with the Senior class.
This is a Millbrook celebration organized by the PTSA and is different than Wake County A/AB Honor Roll recognition.
