Return to Headlines

October 16, 2020

We hope you had a wonderful trackout period enjoying the beautiful weather with your family.  Families should have received information last week regarding which cohort your child will be on.  Please contact the office if you did not receive your cohort.  All students will be working remotely next week with an asynchronous (non-live teaching) day on Wednesday,  October 21.

Students in PreK through third grade return to the classroom on a rotating basis beginning October 26 starting with cohort 1.  Students in grades 4 and 5 will return to school in three-week rotations beginning November 16 and continue until the end of the semester.  Students who attend the WCPSS Virtual Academy will remain in the Academy through the end of the first semester. Those who registered for Virtual Academy the entire school year may remain so, unless they opt for in-person instruction for the second semester.  Parents may also opt to go into the Virtual Academy for the 2nd semester.  That window of time to make a switch will be December 2-9 for second semester.   During the rotation period, students will be in 3 cohorts and in school one week and learning remotely for two.  Only cohort 1 will be coming to school starting on Monday, October 26th.

The county will continue with asynchronous (non-live teaching) days throughout the semester including Wednesday, October 28 the week students start returning to school.  We will be continuing being a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) school, so we are asking students to bring their own devices if they did not receive a county issued device.  More information about what this entails, and an internet acceptance form will be provided to you soon.

We will be conducting temperature checks for every bus and carpool student entering the building and all students and staff will be required to wear a mask.  More information regarding health protocols and procedures will be shared in next weeks all call.  Parents are receiving weekly messages directly from the county, so we ask they you read those carefully as they provide the most consistent message of protocols throughout the county.

We will be holding a live Vance return to school presentation for parents Wednesday, October 21 at 6:00 p.m that will answer many of your questions at this time.  You can use your child's google meet using the code:Vance. Thank you for all your support and we hope to see you soon.
