Mr. Clark's Bengal Message for the week of 10/27/2024

Good evening Bengal Family. We had a great week at FVMS. Here are a few updates and reminders as we head into a busy but great week at FVMS.

Civics Club

Mayor Blake Massengill took time out of his schedule to speak to our FVMS Civics club. Our students got the opportunity to learn firsthand about Fuquay-Varina's local government and its processes. Thank you Mayor Massengill!!

New/Updated Announcements

No school on Friday, November 1st

There is no school for students on Friday, November 1st. The school will be open from 8:30 am - 2:30 pm.

Athletics

Congratulations to our volleyball and football teams for defeating Herbert Akins Road Middle School last week. Great job Bengals!

Tuesday, October 29th - Girls Soccer and Volleyball Home vs Holly Grove Middle School @ 4:00 pm.

Wednesday, October 30th - Football Home vs Holly Grove Middle School @ 4:00 pm.

If you plan to attend any of the home games this year, please use this MAP as a guide on where to park.

Students are welcome to stay after school to attend the games and cheer on their peers. We will make an announcement at the end of the day with instructions on where students should report if they are staying for the athletic games. Tickets cost $6 and can be purchased through the GoFan app or with cash at the event. We accept cash at all athletic events.

End of 1st Quarter

The 1st quarter ends on Thursday, October 31st. Students will receive their report cards in their homeroom class the on November 8th. You may also check PowerSchool for your student's final grade. Please contact their teacher if you have any questions about their grades.

Spirit Week

It's spirit week at FVMS. Here is the LINK to the dress for each day of the week. In addition, students will be permitted to wear costumes to school on Thursday but students will not be permitted to wear masks, paint their entire face, bring any weapons, or wear inflatables. Students must be able to sit at their desk during class.

Weekly Bengal Messages

Starting next week, parents will only receive a text message and email for my weekly Bengal message. You will no longer receive a phone call from me regarding my Bengal message. The messages will still come at 5:30 pm.

PTA Announcements

Roar for More Fundraiser

Thank you so much for your generous support of our Roar for More fundraiser! Your contributions will have a significant impact on our middle school community, providing valuable resources and opportunities for our students and staff. We truly appreciate your commitment to enriching their education and experiences.

Bengal Boo Bash

The Bengal Boo Bash is Thursday, October 31st from 3:30-5:30 at our school.

- At the conclusion of the dance, 6th grade students will be picked up in carpool and 7th & 8th grade students will be picked up in our bus loop/staff parking lot. If you will be picking up a 6th and a 7th/8th grade student, please pick them up in the bus loop. Here is a MAP that explains how to access the bus loop.
- All 6th, 7th, and 8th graders are welcome to attend.
- $5 per student
- Purchase tickets in advance by Wednesday, October 30th at 1:00pm through our online spirit shop here or with cash during your student’s lunch block Monday 10/28 or Wednesday 10/30.
- No tickets will be sold after 1:00pm Wednesday 10/30, nor at the event! NO EXCEPTIONS.
- Admission includes a slice of pizza and drink. Additional concessions available for CASH purchase only. Costumes encouraged, but NO masks, full face paint or weapons.
- We need VOLUNTEERS to make this event successful. If you would like to help with the Bengal Boo Bash, please sign up!

FVMS Blankets for Sale

We have a limited quantity of FVMS logo blankets available for pre-order.

Blankets will be delivered before December 15th and will be available for pickup before Winter break. They make a great present!

Fine Arts Announcements

All County Band

Big congratulations to Alexandra and Justin for being selected to the All-County Band this week. They were selected from over 600 students that auditioned from around the county. Great job and Go Bengals!!

Fall Musical

FVMS Broadway Bengals are hard at work rehearsing for the upcoming Musical of Aladdin Jr.

Go ahead and mark your calendars for the show, December 12th and 13th at 6pm and December 14 at 1pm.

We can always use the help of volunteers on show days, if you would like to volunteer, please email the Broadway Bengals Booster at fvmsbroadwaybengals@gmail.com.

Ongoing Announcements

8th Grade Career Development Plans

State law now requires middle school students to begin a career development plan prior to being promoted to high school. Ms. Elkins will be working with our 8th grade students starting next week to facilitate this process. Students will be constructing their plans during their Social Studies class times. If you have any questions related to the requirements of this plan, please reach out to Ms. Elkins (pelkins@wcpss.net).

Credit by Demonstrated Mastery

If your child is interested in earning credit for a high school course by demonstrating a deep understanding of course content, without course enrollment or seat time, please click on this LINK for additional information. Career Development

Ms. Elkins is currently scheduling opportunities to connect our students with the world of work.
