Mr. Clark's Bengal Message for the week of 10/06/2024
New/Updated Announcements
Good evening Bengal Family. We had a great week at FVMS last week. Here are a few updates and reminders as we head into another great week at FVMS.
Image of the Week
NC Honors Chorus
13 of our 7th and 8th grade advanced chorus students traveled to Greensboro, NC last week to audition for the NC Honors Chorus. These students have dedicated all of their PRIDE times to preparing for this audition since the third week of school. This process is very competitive and students will receive a score from their audition- if they score high enough, they will be invited to attend Honors Chorus this year. Whatever the results are, we are proud of them and the Bengal Pride they showed. Go Bengals!
Athletics
Congratulations to our girl's soccer team for winning their first game of the season last week against Apex Middle School. In addition, our football team improved their record to 2-0 with a win against Apex Middle School. Great job Bengals!
Tuesday, October 8th - Girls Volleyball & Soccer Away @ Lufkin Road Middle School
Wednesday, October 9th - Football Away @ Lufkin Road Middle School
Picture Day
As a reminder, our rescheduled picture day is on Monday, October 7th. We will have a retake day on November 15th for any student that is absent on Monday or would like to retake their picture.
8th Grade Career Development Plans
State law now requires middle school students to begin a career development plan prior to being promoted to high school. Ms. Elkins will be working with our 8th grade students starting next week to facilitate this process. Students will be constructing their plans during their Social Studies class times. If you have any questions related to the requirements of this plan, please reach out to Ms. Elkins (pelkins@wcpss.net).
Credit by Demonstrated Mastery
If your child is interested in earning credit for a high school course by demonstrating a deep understanding of course content, without course enrollment or seat time, please click on this LINK for additional information. Please turn in all forms to student services. If you have any questions, you may email Ms. Green (mgreen2@wcpss.net).
Fundraiser
Our Roar for More fundraiser is off to a great start, and we’re thrilled to share that we’re about 45% of the way to our goal! Classes are racking up fantastic rewards like donut and popcorn parties, and everyone enjoyed pajama day and free seating at lunch!
We just hit $15,000, which means students will soon enjoy music at lunch! At $20,000, we’ll have an exciting teacher adult tricycle race, where students will get to vote on which teachers participate! And at $25,000, our fabulous administrators will dress up in inflatable costumes for carpool, buses, and lunch—that’s going to be epic!
We have a WEEKEND CHALLENGE going on right now. The class IN EACH GRADE with the most NEW DONATIONS from 3:00 PM today until Monday, October 7th at 6 AM will win a popcorn party! 🍿🎉 Any class can win because every class resets to $0. Remember, even a $5 or $10 donation can make a big difference.
Please register and share your fundraiser pages so we can keep doing amazing things for the staff, students, and families of FVMS. Your support makes a big difference! Thank you!
