Good evening Bengal Family.  We had a great week last week.  Here are a few updates and reminders as we head into another great week at FVMS.  

 

No school on Friday, September 20th

There is no school for students on Friday, September 20th.  The school will be open from 8:30 am - 2:30 pm.

 

Virtual Open House

We are excited about our upcoming virtual open house happening on Thursday, September 19th from 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm.  I will be sending out additional information about this event on Tuesday, September 17th.

You read that right! The 2025 yearbook is on sale now 🤩 order your copy early this year so you don't forget!

Send us your Back to School pictures!

Another new school year has started, and the Yearbook Club is looking for your "Back to School" photos!  We are excited to announce our brand-new photo sharing website provided by Josten's that is super easy to use!  Click the link, provide some simple information, verify that it's you, and you're all set to start sharing your photos on the secure photo library that can only be accessed by the Yearbook Advisor.

Choral Fundraiser

Our choral booster club is running a "no frills" fundraiser.  Please consider supporting our amazing Choral program.  The fundraiser ends on September 20th with a goal of raising $15,000.  You may donate at the link below or by scanning the QR Code in the image below.  Thank you for supporting our choral program!

Volunteer Registration

Volunteers no longer need to register to be a volunteer at a WCPSS school.  You may now register at this LINK to become a volunteer at our school.  If you plan to serve as a volunteer during the school year, please complete the registration form. 

 

The volunteer renewal process will be quick and simple for all volunteers who were approved for the 2023-24 school year. The renewal window will close on October 1, 2024. 

 

 

PTA Announcements

 

Are you a Member, Yet?

We are excited for another great year of serving our FVMS students and community! We can't do what we do without YOU, our school parents and families. If you have not joined the FVMS Parent Teacher Association for the 2024-25 school year yet, please take a moment to do so online. If you prefer paper, you can print off this form (English) or this form (Spanish) and send it, along with your annual dues (cash only, please), in a sealed envelope to school with your student and they can turn it in to their homeroom teacher. 

 

Joining is not the same as volunteering, so don't panic! By just joining, the PTA is able to utilize your annual dues to fund all of the amazing things they do for students and staff. If you want to take the next step and get involved with PTA, we'd love to have you, and you can fill out our short survey to get started. We will be in touch!

 

Thank you so much to everyone that came out to our first PTA meeting!!!  It was a great way to start off the year!

Donations Needed

PTA is providing Chick-fil-a and Amazon gift cards to help celebrate staff birthdays and recognize Staff of the Month. We need financial donations from Bengal families to help purchase these items. If you are able to contribute towards this staff recognition program, please visit our online PTA Spirit Shop. Thank you so much for your generosity! 

 

PS - While you are in the spirit shop, consider purchasing a PTA membership for the current school year!

Rent the FVMS Spirit Rock

Community Announcements

There is an amazing opportunity for students and their families to participate in—Rock The Vote, happening on October 19th, 2024, at Campbell University Law School.

 

This event is designed to educate and empower students and their communities on the importance of civic engagement, voting rights, and the power of making their voices heard. There will be interactive sessions, guest speakers, and a chance for students to learn firsthand how they can make a difference in their communities. It’s a great way for students to get involved early and develop an understanding of their role as future voters and active citizens.  You may click on this LINK for the flyer and the QR code to register.

Below you will find dates and times to our upcoming events that take place at the beginning of the school year. More information may be found below for our 6th grade Virtual Meeting and Walk your schedule.  

  • September 19th - Virtual Open House
  • September 25th - School Wide Fundraiser Kick-off
  • September 27th - Deadline to submit documentation for Tdap and Meningococcal vaccine (7th Grade students only) 

 

Health/PE Shirts

Coach Umphrey has PE shirts for any student that would like to purchase one.  The cost is $5 and can be given to Coach Umphrey.  The shirts are not a requirement for dress out in PE.
